Watched Final Fantasy The Spirits Within last night, stunning picture quality but shame about the movie though

When should we expect the Lyris Cut with absolutely none of him in it at all? That's the sort of feature I'd like to see in the next HD format, actors that you can improve/replace/remove/punch in back of the head!!!

The Lyris cut will have his face digitally obscured with Keira Knightly. Johnny Depp will be available as an alternate angle if he's more to the viewer's taste/mood.

Is there a UK contact address yet for the POTC replacement? I would email Disney US but I have a UK copy of the film.

I've not tried it yet but it's worth trying the addy that Lyris used as the seem to post to the UK and the US discs are region free.

I'm not sure if they'd replace a UK disc though as they seem to want the catalogue number off the disc.

Recieved my free copy of the Spiderman Trilogy from Sony on Saturday (If you registered your BDP-S300 online they send you one for free).

Its not the same as the retail package, but its still very well packaged and is an excellent freebie.

I have only watched the 3rd one, but the picture is superb. I love the fact you can make out every individual grain of sand on the sandman, and its much easier to make out whats going on with some of the fast paced action sequences like spidermans first encounter with Harry.

I would say the only problem is it highlights some of the more duff special affects, but overall really impressive.

Hehe after reading up more about it I don't think there is any difference. I was basing that comment off what someone said on the avforums. On my copy they are all single disk editions.

Does the full retail version come in the slimer cases?

Just watched The Life of Brian yesterday, as a special Christmas bonus

It looks OK, but it's another one they should just have left alone. Edge enhanced all the way through and some distracting film grain reduction (the kind that makes the grain in the background warp and look as if it's getting vacuumed into things).

And the ratio is wrong which didn't bother me during the film, but means the credits are cut off the top and bottom at the start. Bit of a silly mistake.

Tonight: Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which looks excellent from the glimpse I've taken.

Hmm I can't seem to find information stating whether or not Pixar Shorts (region B) that I received this christmas will work on my US PS3, anyone? If I break the plastic sealing I won't be able to trade it at the store.

Some of the dark scenes and those with special effects looked a bit dodgy to me, otherwise yep pretty good. Overall, though, I thought 2001 looked more impressive for an "old" film.*

As an aside, the quality of the package is superb and almost justifies it's higher-than-normal price. it's also pretty neat that CEO3K is recognised by the PS3 and displays the title in the XMB.

* Until I watched Blade Runner, that is.

MovieTyme have it listed in their region free list for blu-ray.

It was always expected to be region free anyway but MovieTyme test on different region players before they list them as region free. They don't even seem to list pre-orders as region free when they've been confirmed as such by the studio until they have tested it themselves.

Am I too late to try this now? It won't play and I'll give you ?10 to do you the decent of taking it off your hands!
