It made quite a bit of money, actually. Why they never made a second film is matter of MUCH INTERNET CONJECTURE. It was a very troubled production, and Bakshi's said he had a pretty rough time of it.

Made by completely different people for peanuts (the directors specialised in extremely cheap Saturday morning "limited animation" crapness). It has nothing to do with Bakshi or the first film.

No effort was made to produce this "ripp off" Blu Ray set, thease movies should be showing what the format is capable of not trying to scam more money out of the fans with a totaly lacklusture transfer, I for one will not be paying my hard earned cash for this.

It looks like they are from the same film source and same telecine transfer, but the Blu-ray version has had extra guff done to it that the HDTV broadcast did not.

So if there is a torrent version that's a direct grab of the HDTV broadcast then yes, it should probably look better (albeit slightly worse in terms of compression, but better overall).

It's Gladiator all over again - send the message that this is not OK and wait for the proper release to come out.

Just had a change of speakers starting yesterday got a new centre, a Pioneer S-31C-K and today got a new pair of Pioneer S-31B-LR-K bookshelf speakers for the fronts. Really nice speakers for the money and they sound great in my set up. Very happy.

Will get another two pairs of the S-31B-LR-K to finish of the surround channels on my 7.1 set up. Also contemplating matching them all up to the S-51W sub at some point too.

Well I didn't last very long went up to Ask in TCR this morning and picked up two more pairs of Pioneer S-31B-LR-K's and 6 speaker mounts from Maplins. Set the whole lot up this afternoon. Very happy bunny indeed.

Now just awaiting the arrival of Shelock Holmes (shipped), Die Hard Collection (awaiting restock), The Arrival (pending) and Dawn of the Dead:Unrated (remake)(shipped) to arrive from DVDWorld USA.

Ah well, in for a penny in for a pound, went away from the idea of getting the Pioneer sub as the dimensions made it too big for where I would want to place it. Instead and for more cash I've plumped for an MJ Acoustic Pro 50 MKII. Should be delivered this Saturday.

Blu-ray wise just awaiting The Arrival and Die Hard Quadrilogy from DVDWorldUSA, looking forward to this weekend. Also picked up a copy of 3:10 to Yuma from Blockbusters for £10.00.

Only had a chance to watch the first episode of Band of Brothers on Blu-Ray, but it's a stunning disc so far visually.

The sound is a little on the quiet side compared to other discs though, although the surround seems mixed well, just on the quiet side during spoken scenes.

Lyris, thanks for posting about the Lord of the Rings trilogy picture quality. You saved me £50, I think I will wait for the extended trilogy boxset now.

Glad to help! The funniest thing is, the video transfer on the Ralph Bakshi animated film is actually very good. It looks just like a nice down-and-dirty, no messing around HD telecine of the film. And the grain is totally intact...

Decent review of LOTR trilogy. DNR scrubbed mostly for 1 and 2 and 3 are better. Not fussed and ordered it from Tesco last night for ?40.
