Just ordered Taxi Driver from Movietyme. Been really looking forward to this ... and after reading the fantastic review at blu-ray.com I'm even more hyped

^My copy arrived from Amazon yesterday. Anime on Blu looks great when done right and I've got high hopes for this.

Barry Lyndon and Lolita are available to pre-order now but don't have a release date. It may be worth holding off until next year for the definitive edition of Lolita though as there's sure to be a 40th anniversary release following on from this year's anniversary release of A Clockwork Orange.

Six of Warner's Kubrick films are also reaching fairly substantial anniversaries between now and 2015 so there may be a few anniversary editions on the way, possibly even finishing off with another box set.

I'm still sulking that the Blu release of 5cm seems to have completely vanished. Bah.

Was tempted to wait for the UK release as they're both from Sony and essentially the same disc as well as apparently being region free but I'm tempted to import it as we get it in June which is two months later.

It's looking to be a worthwhile purchase though looking at the screen captures
here and here. The colour seems very different to earlier releases but this is supposed to be more accurate.

Also, the 30th anniversary edition of Raging Bull is available now but I've seen nothing of this version or the earlier release so don't really know if the new release is more worthy than the original. You can buy either of them for less than ?10 so I suppose should really be watching one of the releases at that price.

I see Play are doing a Tron Limited Collectors Edition

Does anyone know if this version that the US are getting will be released on PAL format?

DVD Beaver have some reference shots of Criterion's blu-ray release of Melville's Le Cercle Rouge as well as comparison shots of the earlier releases.

Again, it's probably down to personal preference which version to go for as there's still no definitive edition due to Melville and Henri Deca? seemingly having completely different thoughts as to how their film should look.

It's certainly worth picking up the film on blu-ray irrelevant on which version you seem to think is the more honest of the two as it's a fantastic film by anybody's measure. Mine was dispatched earlier in the week so should be here shortly, really can't wait.

Somebody asked about it months ago but I can't remember who, Das Boot has been announced for release on June 7th in the US. As I was expecting, it's the 208 minute Director's Cut rather than the 282 minute TV series.

There's been no mention of Europe yet apart from the current German only release of the director's cut which is cheap enough to import but only has German subtitles.

I may import the US version if nothing is announced over here in the next few months, I'd prefer to pick up the 282 minute version ideally as I felt it worked better in that format.

It was me that asked. Any version of Das Boot is fine by me, if its region free i'll be importing that bad boy!

Watched The Girl Who Leapt through Time for the first time last night. Fantastic movie, shame it was a lackluster disc though. Now i am about to watch Summer Wars!

Just finished Summer Wars. I was blown away! Fantastic characters, genuine laughs and great drama. It also doesn't hurt that its a visually impressive and vivid film. Looks superb on blu-ray.

It's well worth picking up but it's worth remembering that it's a Sony Pictures catalogue title so will more than likely be released over here at around the same time although it's worth bearing in mind the two month pause that accompanied Taxi Driver.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see it as a budget title over here pretty quickly if you're willing to wait.

Out of interest my copy of Le Cercle Rouge along with the Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series box set that I ordered from Zavvi last week. I've not seen any of the series but I've heard positive things from friends who have and Zavvi had it at a daft price last week so it'd have been rude to not order it really.

Does anyone know if a UK release of Apocalypse Now is planned? Can pick up the US Full Disclosure Edition, just wondering if it's likely to get a release over here any time soon.

Tempted to pick this up. Worth the extra few quid for the double pack with 'the girl who leapt through time'?
