I'm feeling more optimistic now that it feels less TDK. Hype.... rising....

Sometimes new themes come along and are as good as the original work ... Look at Duel Of Fates for example ... An excellent piece of music and well up there with anything that came along in the original starwars films ... Another good example is Star Trek, which has a great soundtrack, espiically 'Labor of Love' which is possibly one of the best pieces of music I have heard in any film.
I see Hans Zimmer is overseeing the music though, so its in good hands ...

Zack Snyder, Henry Cavill, and screenwriter David Goyer all spoke about the upcoming Superman reboot “Man of Steel” recently, in the process revealing a couple of new tidbits. In regards to the film’s level of secrecy, Goyer tells Total Film: “It’s something Chris [Nolan] tried hard to do with the Batman films. I’m genuinely pleased […]

Saying the film is going to have the same "relatable and realistic" tone as the Nolan Batman films gives me the impression that Superman wont have any super powers and the special effects will be crap in some desperate and ill conceived attempt to seem believable.
The main reason I was disappointed with TDKR was that it strived so hard to be realistic but then had Batman recovering from a broken back in the space of a fortnight. It wasn't actually grounded into reality at all, it was just trying to give that impression and it didn't work because it was such a badly thought out film that pissed on its comic book roots in an attempt to be "real".
Also, I'm not sure what Cavil is on about when hes saying that making Superman relatable is a modern thing... the whole point of Superman is that he relates to humans more than his alien ancestors. That's been what the character has been about since he was first created, it's not a modern thing.Last edited by rmoxon; 19-03-2013, 09:57.

It seemed like a fortnight but was actually more like a year for his recovery wasn't it in dkr? Id hardly say it pissed on its comic roots either, its easy to sit on the net and pick something to bits, id like to see anyone else make a better movie of it than Nolan.
Anyway, im really looking forward to this, im getting a "its going to be good feeling". I think what Cavil meant by that comment is making him more relatable to modern day audiences, times have changed a lot since the original character, people are much more cynical and up to date on info thanks to the net, the film obviously has to reflect that. Its all going to be very interesting thoughLast edited by fishbowlhead; 19-03-2013, 10:10.

Also, I completely disagree with people being more cynical these days in regards to superhero films, like I said the Avengers made so much more money than the last Batman film for a reason, people like to have fun with these types of films.
The original Superman film was actually way ahead of its time, it's a modern film in feel and tone, but it is sadly held back these days by its outdated effects, which are the only thing about the film that does not feel modern.Last edited by rmoxon; 19-03-2013, 10:15.

Its fair enough that you didn't like it, but it was still a good film regardless, opinion and facts are separate issues.
Re people being cynical, i meant people in real life are more cynical, have access to info 24/7 anywhere they go, the film needs to reflect this is they are going for a more grounded approach, which it appears they are. For example how long would it take for a super human to avoid a mobile phone these days and get instantly put on youtube, i think Cavil was referring to these sorts of things, with a modern superman having to deal with things like this, along with saving the plannet. Thats just my opinion though.
