Sony Pictures has shuffled around its 2013 and 2014 film schedule with one decidedly drastic shift taking place according to EW. Jose Padilha’s “Robocop” remake, which began shooting a few weeks ago, has been pushed back a full six months. Instead of an August 9th 2013 release, the movie is now slated for a February […]

Robocop ceases and desists back to 2014

Even just painting the suit silver in places would help. But yeah still looks nothing like how Robocop should.

Only thing missing is the wobbly sword, then you would have a complete "go-go power rangers" outfit.

Some things should stay in the era they were born.

Why can't I find the original Robocop thread? Someone mentioned the TV edit and the dubs made, I thought they would enjoy these clips from it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSfMq1apGXU

Just been looking at a collection of recent media including ed-209 killing a tank.

I still can not get over how **** the costume looks. It is one of the worst redesigns I have ever seen.

Why is he on a bloody bike!? isn't he supposed to be a walking tank?

[EDIT] I think this is pretty spoilerific...

Jesus, so he appears in both forms, nice. Given this is clearly targetted at wide audiences so doesn't feature the dark edge or violence of the original it's going to be best keepong that out of your head going in. Original aside though there looks to be room for some optimism.

Well, it looks better than I feared, but it's still going to suffer the same problems as the Total Recall remake in that they've removed any humour (it was very black, but it was definitely there) and tweaked the story slightly so it feels like somebody telling a joke you've heard before - you know the punchline, so it loses its impact, and they way it's told is slightly different and you prefer it the way you first heard it...

This looks ****, as expected. I doubt I'd even watch this if a mate DL'ed a 1080p DTSHD copy FFS

                        Oh dear lord.

As if anyone could even hope to match Verhoeven's dark and timely satire. What a travesty.

Yep, that's about the size of it.

It basically looks like they took a quirky and unusual action film and turned it into a totally generic, soulless action film.

It'll probably rake in hundreds of millions of dollars...

                              Disappointing. Not sure if Murphy

retaining his memory was such a wise idea. One of the things I love about the original is the fact that his family are unaware of his resurrection and the journey that leads up to him getting his identity back.

Kinnaman is excellent in The Killing and he has the chops to portray a character as conflicted as Robocop but I worry that it's going to be tackled in the most shallow, clich? way possible. From the trailer,

it looks like they're going to have his thinking augmented by programming to give the illusion of free will. They may have tackled something similar to this with Directive 4 in the original but if the story in the remake basically consists of Murphy realising that he's not in control and trying to break his programming, I'll probably feel like I'm watching a big screen version of Kryten trying to lie about a banana inbetween explosions.

He's kept his memory in anticipation of the comedy spin-off: Robokid

Part man, part machine, all DAD!

"It's crazy mayhem in Detroit as Robocop and Robokid spend father & son time shooting some perps!"
