It really is incapable of it. But it won’t be soon. And in the meantime, there is a risk that the job of writers becomes fixing nonsense spat out by AI. So as an industry, it’s a genuine concern.

But I honestly think the genie is out of that bottle. It’s not a fun genie but I don’t see it going back in there.

I support the strike and most of what they are striking for. What’s frustrating me is how the WGA is overreaching here though, expecting foreign non-WGA members to strike too, for example. And going well beyond their remit in terms of the types of productions they cover. Putting people like me in a very weird position.

In terms of being an action movie icon and general all-round entertainer, Arnie wins for sure.

For acting/writing/directing though? Does Arnie have a "Copland" performance on his CV? Did Arnie ever write an iconic Oscar-winner that birthed an iconic cinematic franchise? Does Arnie have directing credits?

Oh my god... that sent me on a search and it turns out Arnie has directed twice. An episode of Tales of the Cryptkeeper (wtf?) and a TV movie called Christmas in Connecticut starring Kris Kristofferson and Tony Curtis around the time T2 came out (double wtf!)

Forgot about Christmas in Connecticut (most people probably have). Didn't know about Cryptkeeper.

Even so, Sly's directing CV still comfortably beats Arnie's, and that saying something given that Sly mostly directed Rocky and Rambo sequels, apart from The Expendables and Staying Alive (1983 sequel to Saturday Night Fever).

Considering the awards his image definitely seemed to drown out how good a filmmaker Stallone can be

I'd argue that Stallone's talent laid more in writing screenplays than in directing, although he hasn't done badly as a director in commercial terms.

I had to have a look at that history too, I didn't know he wrote the screenplay for Cliffhanger

Stallone is hands down a better actor with a far broader range. I love both of them and would see all of their movies at the cinema but Arnie tended to do more movies in the genres I preferred & I looked forward to a new Arnie movie more than a new Stallone movie.

Arnold had an amazing run in the 80s, which seemed to end after T2. The 90s weren't kind to him.

Slys career has always been up and down, but he did carry that on through the 90s, probably because he has much more acting range and adapted a bit.

Both are iconic and I'd struggle to split them. Arnold is arguably the bigger star just because of his charisma.
