Queensryche - Speak. Oh god how much I love Operation Mindcrime.

Can't stand them emo-goth buffoons, but heard this on the radio and is the second track of theirs I have enjoyed, after "I'm Not OK" (great video).
They resent being called 'emo goths' - anyone who does brand them as such will be attacked by the undead legions of hell

Then they're write a high-pitched, emotionally-charged song about it afterwards.

I was a bit disappointed by this. The track they released for free in advance ("just for today") was good, but the rest was a pretty average. Listenable, but not worth the money.

Yeah, 'Just For Today' seems easily the best of the bunch although there are others I'm enjoying too. Just haven't listened to it enough yet to know which ones are which.

today i went to hmv and bought up a few albums...

pantera - reinventing hell (best of); it's pantera, what can i say? i've also noticed how the doom series of games has copied a couple of pantera tracks!!
(hed) pe - best of; ooh i like the first 5/6 tracks on this... they seem very familiar and that's no bad thing.
joe satriani - crystal planet; never heard of the guy before dave fallows mentioned him, seems he's a very gifted guitar player. the album is basically him just ripping away on the guitar to some minimal backing from a band, some good tracks so far (only on track 5 so far).

                                My Sarah - Thin Lizzie

Heard this on Radio 2 this morning, OMG how have I never heard this before ? its so moving in a way I can't place.
I guess its like all great music you can't figure out what you like about it.
Maybe its bacause he wrote it about his daughter and died soon after you can hear the love on the track, esp in a world full of souless hack pop jobs.
It may be soppy and I may get blasted but, just wow
