Some mid-90s LA hip hop album I got in a charity shop in Hull for 20p(!!), "Needlez In Da Haystack" by Down N Dirty (I'd never heard of them, either).

It's actually pretty good, nothing special but pretty chunky, much more listenable than I expected, plus one of the guys sports an impressive monobrow, it's actually more like a belt across the top of his eyes.

Bastard of the skies, someone just sent me a new Human League track on YouTube, "Night People", I was unaware they were even a band anymore, let alone making any new stuff.

It starts off feeling indulgently, offputtingly cheesy, then thrills a tad, descends slightly further into the realms of tacky wank, then finally emerges as a very fitting, mythical, tacky wanky hidden track from 'Dare'. It's full of unassumingly naive 80s electropop, in a good way:

I really like it now, given my misgivings upon first hearing it, truly looking forward to "Credo".

        Listening to some favourites:

Grandaddy - Just Like The Fambly Cat

Slint - Spiderland : One of my favourite albums ever.

Picked up Twin Shadow's "Forget" yesterday- excellent synth/post-punk songs on there, lots of drum machines, bass and sparingly-used guitar.

            ^Loved that!!!

Been re-listening to Hercules & Love Affair's exceptional debut album, so glad to have it back. It's a genius melding of house with proper Studio 54-style disco vibes but does everything *right*, it's incredible, can't believe I overlooked the release of the recent 2nd album:

PS: edited to put a slightly better non-official video in (don't think there's an official one), the only problem is it's NOT called" Hercule's Theme", it's NOT "Hercules' Theme", it's simply "Hercules Theme", ie. the theme of Hercules, yet people randomly insert their own apostrophes in mad YouTube ways!!!!!!!!!!!

This is very relevant to my interests.

Where did you get the album?

Oops, just saw this. At the big HMV on Oxford Street, it's quite cheap on Amazon too.

Pat Foosheen - Unthinkable (Habersham's Mix)

Yvel & Tristan - Pillow (love the bassline on this one ):

After buying some new storage for my CDs and rearranging them I found this album which I've been listening to.

used to have all the Orb remix albums although they were nothing to do with The Orb from what I can remember.

I know these weren't official albums when they were released but I had all of them and I can only find this one now which is really annoying. Does anybody know if they ever got an official release or if they didn't where I can download them from now?

Been getting back into some proper old blues with Blind Willie McTell...

                          Black Ace...

                          Pink Anderson...

                          Leadbelly...

And the man who invented Delta Blues, Robert Johnson...

Not really related to the above but I've also starting buying Ibrahim Ferrer albums...

I'm never more than a couple of days away from a Brian Jonestown Massacre CD so as always, they've been getting plenty of airtime here.

I've been going back and forth through my Iron Maiden / Radiohead albums, trying to work out whether I like any of the newer stuff or not.

Discovered a new band today, well new to me anyway. And with them came a brand new genre for me that's apparently known as Desert Blues which originated with the nomadic people of the Sahara, the band I found are Terakaft but there are loads of others.

I'm thinking that they may well be the coolest looking band ever.

Also been working through my Tom Waits collection yet again.
