I agree Pete. I've watched Season 1 - Season 3 continuously the last month - 6 weeks, it's been brilliant. Season 3 has been a mixed bag. The rescue from New Caprica with the Galactica jump was awesome. But I've found it lacking focus. Too many characters are acting wishy-washy while others are being complete dildos. Quite why Adama doesn't just line a load of them up, including Apollo, and have them shot is beyond me.

There they are, fleeing for their very species, and people are acting like idiots, trying to do "the right thing". I liked the episodes in s1 and 2 that dealth with cylon sympathises, but now half the main characters are acting like children.

Oh, and I'm also not sure I like the change in direction. It started very "realistic" but now has gone all "spiritual". The cylon's spirituality interested me, but now the humans are following prophecies themselves it's lost the "real world" vibe.

I've wondered that myself. I mean, the Cylons destroyed their entire planet and killed billions. The Galactica saved their asses. Anyone causing trouble, I'd just leave them behind and see how long they last.

I can't believe no-one else is talking about the season finale. That was amazing!

I do agree that after the brilliant start the series has been very slow, even up to last week's episode, but that pulled the rug out from under my feet. The downside is that we now have to wait the best part of the year to find out what exactly just happened and how things are going to turn out.

Just this second finished it, despite being

          fairly predictable

          it was a great episode.

We have to wait almost a year now? wtf? Why can't it be like Neighbours or something and be on every day

Neighbours AND Battlestar every day? who could stand such awesomeness?

There's a good post-finale interview with Ronald D. Moore here, where he discusses the direction things might be taking. Beware: major spoilers if you're yet to see it.

                  I don't think so -

I think Starbuck is bigger than that, possibly some sort of God. Also I'm not convinced the four are cylons either. And where were the people leading baltar? I didn't hear what she said

                  .

                    I don't think it's

                    Starbuck

, for no better reason than I don't want that individual to be.

The trouble is I don't have any better suggestions. I've been on the official BSG forums and a lot of people seem to think that it might be Laura, but it seems pointless for that to be the right one when her aide is a Cylon. Another possibility is Lee, because when Leoben said "Adama is a Cylon" in the first (?) series everyone assumed that he meant Bill. If Tigh can be a Cylon there's no reason why the admiral's military career should preclude that.

Fingers crossed that after these revelations season 4 will be more story-driven, rather than plot-driven like this one has been. You could have cut out a big chunk of this one and still known what was going on.

An interview with the writer recently said that he had to rewrite the latter half of season 3 at the last minute in order to get a better climax. He admitted there were some weak episodes.

                      Here you go (spoilered)

[On changing 10-episode polt arcs on the fly]And when did this method not work so well?

We'd developed a whole story line this season about a colony called the Sagitarions, and they were going to be an issue in the trial of [former president] Gaius Baltar. During the missing year on New Caprica, when Baltar was president, a massacre had taken place among the people from this one colony that had isolated themselves from the rest of the people. It was this long intricate back story built into a lot of the previous episodes of the show and it just didn't work. And I basically decided to throw it out while I was writing the finale, on the spur of the moment. We then had to go back into previous episodes and take that out, reshooting and re-editing. Some of those episodes suffered from that decision. It was important because it saved the finale and made it much stronger, but certain episodes in the second half of the third season are weaker as a result of that.

Wowness (don't read if you haven't seen Season 3's climax).

It wasn't as surprising as the twist Season 2 ended on, but I honestly expected them to pussy out of making those characters Cylons. This interview may have already been posted (sorry if it has), but for people that didn't think Tory, Anders, Tigh and the Chief were all Cylons. Ron Moore confirms that they are here:

Edit: Just seen NekoFever has linked to the same article. Apologies.

What I think is similar to what other people are speculating. The five Cylon models are separate from the Cylon fleet and don't seek to destory or dominate the humans, so the fleet being ambushed without warp power probably isn't the doomsday scenario it initially seems. I don't think Starbuck is a Cylon though - it's much more likely she's the ultra advanced AI/and or/God that's been pulling the strings with the visions. I'd say what Leoben said seasons ago... that an Adama was a Cylon will hold true. Whether that's Lee Adama, William Adama or his other (supposedly dead) son remains to be seen.

I still have this sneaky feeling that Baltar (a human) is still somehow, don't know how they will work it, going to end up leading the traditional Cylon fleet, and Adama (Lee or William) will end up being a Cylon leading the Human fleet, and it'll be the modified Cylon fleet and the 0God type that eventually brings them together.

By the way, were they quoting the lyrics of

watchtower as the four walked towards the room?

                          .

                          Good theories Concept.

                          Anyone else laugh at the

                          butterfingers line? Superb delivery!

                            Hmm

I cant see how anyone else on Galactica or the fleet can be the fifth as we never saw them experiencing the music like the other 4 did. Adama didnt, Roslin didnt. It woudl be too convenient that we just didnt see it. I'd put the music down to some effect of radiation from the Nebula. As they got closer it seemed to get worse and the characters themsleves seemed to be physically suffering for it.

I really hope they dont introduce some other spiritual God character in Starbuck. The introduction of the five is testing my patience as it is. Interesting though we saw no actual fighting taking place as the show ended. Could this be a revisit to the earlier plot of Cylon society splintering. The motives and the actions of those that landed on new Caprica never seemed to add up.

                              Yes.

Tigh being a cylon is really going to screw with his head, he's near enough insane as it is. You remember a while back when they chucked that cylon out of the airlock, and he whispered into Adama's ear - bet he told him Tigh was a cyclon then
