It would indeed, especially as it's free from commercial restraints. That's the drawback for the likes of Sky or C4 going after Team Clarkson ... how can Jeremy be as honest as he was about that Lexus the other week when they're a paying customer on the TV channel. It's a conflict of interest and the reviews/opinions would surely get too diluted, going against their style.

As for the Beeb, I think they need to overhaul the whole thing, not just replace Jeremy.

Interesting that BBC3 had a Top Gear repeat on this evening.

What he did was wrong but his rapport with the other two is what kept me watching the show.

The decision was correct. What Clarkson did was terrible.

It'll be interesting if he does guest present Have I Got News For You in a few weeks.

It wasn't just morally right to sack him, if he stayed on the BBC would have been open to an employment tribunal of biblical proportions had the producer constructively dismissed himself.

Employment tribunal payouts are capped IIRC.

I don't think for a second Clarkson is a racist, merely one who wanted to push it as far as he could.

As for the sacking, technically right but the BBC made so much money off it, I can't help buy feel they will regret it.

If we're on technicalities, Clarkson hasn't been sacked, in fact he's still employed by the BBC at the moment.

I don't think they'll regret the sacking; they'll regret that he did that in the first place.

Personally, what's irritated me tonight is that James May has come forward to say that this is some tiny argument that's been blown out of proportion. Personally, I find that in bad taste. If Clarkson genuinely did punch this producer bloke, then James May (facing figure, well-known, highly paid onscreen talent) has no place in criticising how things have gone down, when this is clearly to the benefit of the many people who work behind the scenes to keep people like him in their jobs.

There are bound to be a few people that have ran errands for prima donna personalities who look upon this with a sense of satisfaction.

Push racism? How many comments does one have to make before they might be just a teeny bit racist? He doesn't just push buttons like Frankie Boyle - he's just painfully outdated and that comes with a streak of racism.

I meant push the boundaries of what he can get away with. In general.

Yep, I'd agree with that but I'd say his casual racism is something he likes to get away with. It appears to amuse him.

It probably does. I'm 100% against racism but not going to pretend I haven't uttered crass race related remarks. Not on TV mind. That's just stupid.

It is a shame about this whole situation. I'm a big Top Gear fan. Yes, thescripted sequences are obvious and them pissing about is somewhat annoying but it's still enjoyable and a good way to relax. I always looked forward to a new episode of Top Gear. It's far more entertaining than Fifth Gear that's for sure. Still, at least I have Wheeler Dealers to watch from this week. Funny how all the best car shows are British. We have sweet FA in Japan.

I really like Fast & Loud, you should check that out Yakumo, easy going car restoration and laughs.

Wheeler Dealers, they never (used to) include the labour costs on their projects/profit margins, winds me right up that, defeats the whole object.

I'll keep an eye out for Fast & Loud.
I guess they don't add labour costs on Wheeler Dealers because Edd does most of the work. They do mention throughout the show how much certain jobs would cost if you asked a garage to do them though. Still, out of all the car fix it shows this is the only good one. No stupid drama crap, no dicks thinking they know it all when they don't and genuine likable people.

I can't believe they've made a Jeremy Clarkson arcade game!
