Dogg Thang can field this one.

If this were the 1950s it could mean "What A Dish" but some strange reason I think it may be somewhat less politically correct.

Anyway, weirdly on TBN UK a Freeview channel that rarely has anything to interest me, they were showing the David Lean version of Great Expectations last night.

Seen it many, many times and probably commented here about it in the past but I still watched it right through to the end again, switching over to the F1 highlights during the advert breaks. A truly great British film that will endure forever.

Since Dogg has disavowed all knowledge…

Imagine being in a pub in the North East with yer marra.
A woman walks in. She’s good looking.

        You: Look at her, man.
Marra: Why aye, man. Wad yer?
        You: Aye! Wad!

        Basically means ‘would you?’

Great Expectations is brilliant. That cast!

I was in the Newcastle Metrocentre, having a pint with some uni mates and a man with a pushchair walks in and asked me in Geordie:
"They gorrany scran for tha bairn?"
          "I'm sorry?! I spluttered
"They gorrany scran for tha bairn?"
"I'm really sorry, have they what?"

My friend saved me - "Yes, they serve food for children."

            The Amazing Spider-Man
Next up is Garfields first film, obviously a step down from Maguire's films and too much of a retread it's still a solid watch

I initially read these parts in my inner London voice, but I like to think he was as perplexed by your accent as you were by his

                Like Someone In Love
A really intresting film, but I really wish that I had not read the DVD back cover, as it kinda tells too much by saying the profession of the female lead, as in the movie it is not directly said out loud what she does for living even though it is pretty clear. Most of who the characters are is told through subtext, instead of directly said what this character is. I liked the movie, but I don't see it as something that a lot of people would enjoy, as I work on performing arts field to me it had a lot of professional intrigue of the performativity of the actors (as opposed to theatricality, which there was very little), and slow tempo that occasionally borders "aesthetics of boredom". Some plot points are very predictable from te very first scene, and I did not enjoy the ending. But still overall, watching the movie was a enjoyable experience to me.

I've got to admit, this doesn't convince me to see it

                                I couldn't resist.

I must admit, I didn't quite love it. It looks amazing, a wonderful cinema film in many ways with so many beautiful shots. But I found it really messy and, ultimately, a bit unsatisfying. Lots of creative decisions that I'd question, but I'm guessing most came down to condensing the dense book into movies. Still, I think the two pieces are a great overall experience (I rewatched the first part a few days ago) and I love that he got to make these.
