Bleach probably went through the sould society arc way too quickly. It absolutely hammered through it. Then again, explains why it had such a faster pace than other stuff [looks at Naruto]. Thing is, the filler will have to run for a while, manga isn't really that far ahead yet. I would have preferred a break rather than this filler guff. Still, you will be pleased to know when the story gets going again it gets even better than the soul society arc. Much, much better. Trust me

I know Dattebayo were doing a countdown to end of the filler (I think it is down to single figures now, maybe even as low as 3-4 eps). I did hear Naruto ratings in Japan fell off due to all the filler, so hopefully we can expect a return to the main story on time. Just a shame the story contains the dullest, longest excuse for a fight I've seen...

BOooooo, I liked that fight. Teenage Sakura > rest of the female cast, and now she can finally punch some ass.

Also even though the current Bleach chapters have become way to, ?Who can whip out the Biggest Move?,

I do enjoy it when they allow Ichigo?s Hollow to come out to play, that things just evil! I loved it when that girl provoked Ichigo enough to force his hollow thinking he was weak and it nearly rips her apart.

        Mushishi ep19/20, it finished its 1st season with bearly a blemish and is on par if not better than Kino Travels. Shame its gone into a break so(much like HxH anime) and it'll will properly be later rather than sooner before we get the next season ;_;

Really like the string inthe sky episode specially the ending, im glas it turned out well i was thinking it was going to be another tragedy, and the final episode with what seems like Ginko's soul future so mate? Hope we see more of here as both are pretty much the same, effected by the mushi but live the Mushi.

Bleach OVA 2 - Nicely animated, seems they set it just before the ancar turn up, decent fight and couple of laughs.

        Fate/Stay Night ep12 - Hat eating time

looks like she is either King Arther or Guinevere(only women i know from that legend) also Excalibur rocks!

        Gantz ch227/228 -

not much is happening at the moe, but the end of 228 could bring about some f'in cool stuff, Kei vs Vamp Brother!! i hope he gets back into a black suit soon... speaking of which GANTZ START THE NEXT MISSION ALREADY!!

The first season's not finished yet and I'm not even sure there's plans for another season. The first season is 26 episodes long but they've stopped short at episode 20. I believe from reading the forums at animesuki that the last 6 episodes will be airing on a different station in May, which considering the alternative may have been waiting for the DVDs that were likely to come out in September, it's good enough for me.

Ditto about the show though. There wasn't a bad episode in the entire bunch for me. Some of them I liked more than others but there wasn't one episode I'd say outright was crap. The short story format really works well IMO for this anime. The only thing I will say is that it can get pretty depressing at times with the way some of the stories ended. That's why like you, I enjoyed those last few episodes.

String in the sky episode you mentioned was great because at least it had a happy ending, even though it did look like it was going to end badly for the guy at one point. Would love to see Ginko and that girl in the last episode hook up. Ginko himself has had such a **** time of things, what with his past and everything. He deserves some good fortune/happiness.

Favourite episodes would probably be episode 1(the one with the hand of god or something), episode 4(the guy who can predict the future), the swamp girl episode, the string in the sky episode, the one night bridge episode and the last episode. There's probably another one I'm forgetting as well.

          Ichigo Mashimaro episodes 7-12 -

Caught up the last half of the series. Great series overall, although I thought the last few episodes were probably some of the weakest in the bunch in terms of comedy. Favourite episodes would have to be 7 and 8, which is I think the beach and the festival episodes respectively. Mainly because I thought those were more consistenly funny. Miu's a bitch and I jumped for joy whenever she got smacked around. That said she was the star of the show, it just simply wouldn't have been as good without her especially since the majority of the comedy is centred around her.

. Overall I enjoyed the relaxed pace of the series but in terms of comedy I think there's better series' out there especially as it's not been as consistently funny as say School Rumble or Yakitate Japan for me. Perhaps it wasn't trying to be. Still it's up there with some of the better shows I've seen like Aria, Mushishi, etc...

Might have to check it out Kino's travels now that you've mentioned it. Also does the Bleach OVA2 spoil anything if I haven't been reading the manga? I've only been following the anime at the moment.

I would Bleach OVA2, would be watchable where the anime filler is right now so you can watch it anytime... but in manga terms it wouldn't have happened till a couple of people showed up at ichigo's school for the current story arc.

Also a quick mention Yakitate piss take of One Piece excellent!! and we had only just had Dragon Ball.

Shakugan no Shana ep24 - last ep, every enjoyable and my fav action/fighting shows in the last year, can't think of much else better than it.

Certainly an open ending so alot wasn't resolved and the 'extra capicity' stuff said at the end seemed a be of a cop off for the writers, it would have seem better to me that Yuji would have sustained Shana's existance through out the summoning. Also i guess we can expect another season, specially since it seems to be popular enough to get a movie

Looks like I was right then Certainly seems to be a big payoff now that we're getting some action. Fate Stay night spoilers(possibly) -

As you said Excalibur was crazy

I'm starting to wonder what that girl Sakura has to do with this, the one that Rin visits in this episode, you see her briefly say something towards the end as Rider is finished off. Could she be another master?

Shirou has gotten better in recent episodes. Seems like Saber has beaten some sense into him Though I did think he reverted back to his old stupid self when he went charging up to the roof and tried to get closer to Saber has she was preparing to strike against Rider

Shakugan No Shana final episode -

Nothing really resolved except we see the outcome to the battle. Definitely seems like it was planned this way to setup for the movie maybe and even future seasons. Not too bothered about the lack of resolution because obviously we know there's at least a movie to come so they might be saving stuff for that or so I hope. Nice to see some progression though as Shana confesses and it also looks like Olga has hooked up with that tall guy. I'll be honest I didn't like the whole "enough capacity" thing. If Alastor thought that, why didn't he say so earlier? At least it might have put Yuji at ease. Still it was a decent and understandable end to what has been a great series

Hopefully there'll be another full season of episodes after the movie. I'm pretty sure the shows been quite popular and there's still plenty of material from the novels to cover IIRC.

Mai-Otome ep24 ? We?ve got the final setup for a 1 hour special which is good cos I was planning on saving ep25/26 to watch together.

Nina yet again being a fool, why did she not question Smith?s action if he shot him and she certainly well of the marker trying to get Sergey to sleep with her(the sick fool) for the reason of losing her Otome powers.

Well I hope for huge cluster muck of a battle with all the Otome kicking ass, and Gundam Tomoe gets some deserved comeuppance, wonder if we?ll get Super happy ending Hime got being the Harmonium can bend Time and Space?.

                  Mai Otome ep24 -

One word that comes to mind for the episode and some of the events that transpire is SICK and not in the good sense. Nina has got some serious issues and hopefully the jealous bitch will get a good beating sometime soon. Also on the list for beatings is Nagi who is just the slyest, most manipulative ****er you could possibly imagine even moreso than in Hime which I never thought possible. I'll give him credit though, he certainly does know how to get his way, especially with Nina. Lesbo Gundam Tomoe doing her usual thing really, she also needs a bit of a beating, second only to Nagi in the slyness stakes. Notice how she goes back to get some lovin' from Shizuru after she got slapped down by Nina(about the only decent thing Nina has done in the past few episodes). In fact I wouldn't mind if all three of them were battered in one go.

I hope to god Sergey didn't do what I think he did. I'm hoping there's an explanation for it, just like with the near kiss with Arika. Otherwise all I can say is some of the people at Sunrise have sick minds. A good episode all round though except for the above mentioned incident. Sets us up nicely for the final episodes. So glad they decided to do a double bill to finish it off

Karin 18 - Filler episode for all intents and purposes which doesn't really progress the story rather delves into a little bit of Ren's(Karin's brother) backstory but IMO it was hilarious and very entertaining. I've not seen a lot of Maria Sama ga Miteru(intend to get through it soon) but from what I have seen I would say the episode is sort of like a male version of that show. Don't let that put you off though. It basically pokes fun at a lot of those bishounen shows(I believe that's the correct term)

Favourite bits include finding out who the "lady" is that Ren keeps in his room and that whole scene. Plus the intro scene for the student council presidents, particularly the end bit where they're moving off and the helpers are pushing the "garden tea party" background along with them. The running joke of his roommate being very feminine is really well handled IMO. Got quite a few laughs from me. One of the funnier episodes in the show IMO. "

                  .

Also not sure if anyone is interested but the same groups that have finished Paradise Kiss have released a sub of the first episode of Gokinjo Monogatari. I mentioned it a couple of pages back I believe. It's basically a prequel to Paradise Kiss and focuses on the early years of Miwako's sister and her future husband. It's about 10 years old so don't expect the same level of eye candy that was in Paradise Kiss IMO. Not seen it myself but I'm looking forward to it.

                  edit:
stumbled on some interesting news on animesuki. Apparently a season 2 of Honey and Clover has been confirmed for 2006 no idea when though. If true(and generally they've not been wrong with for example Aria2, School Rumble2, Genshiken) it's ace news . I didn't watch it as it was airing but downloaded the subs and had a bit of a marathon in January this year. The show quickly jumped up into my top 5 of 2005 anime at the expense of Speed Grapher.

edit2: seems like it's official now. http://animenewsnetwork.com/ it's in one of the news posts on that site Live action movie as well
More Honey and Clover goodness coming soon. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seem?s 2006 will finish with strong line up Negima, Aria2, School Rumble2, Genshiken s2, H&C s2. The only thing that could be better is a second season to Airmaster

                    Otome ep24 ?

All they did was hug, as if have had sex to lose her Otome Robe, she?s couldn?t have used to play the harmonium later in the episode.

^ LOL, my mistake. Yeah I wasn't paying attention at that part. Went back over it and you're right, thank god for that. Still that whole scene was just too disturbing for my liking.

2006 has started off okay, one or two really good shows but some crap ones as well. It's mainly been the shows that started last year and are finishing now that I've really enjoyed recently. As you say though it looks like a very good year from some of the anime that's been announced. I'd also add Ah! My Goddess Season 2 to that list of sequels but maybe that's just me. I only recently finished the first season and thought it was good, although I preferred the episodes at the start. DVD episodes were probably the best of the bunch though.

                        Hantsuki ep6 ? last ep,

bit cruel in that we now she won?t live to much longer but it doesn?t dwell on that for to long instead opting for being happy for as long as possible approach, the Doc made himself less of a badguy by saying he screwed up his life by staying with his dying wife, but then the nurse certainly helped show him although may have cost him, it meant the world to his wife. Also more from Zebra Mask an Zebra Mask II are worthy of mention .

                        Eureka 7 ep33 ?

an enjoyable rest for the crew, Taho becoming the Big sis for Renton, and the touching scene of Leader being unable to riff due to his knackered body, and then the crew staying on board for the a crazy suicide mission. Liked the strange intro to, with some of cast as surfers(include a certain dead couple). At first I thought we had hit a time jump.

                          Hantsuki ep6 -

Great ending to a great series. I myself perhaps might have gone with a super happy ending of having her completely cured but as it is I've got no complaints with how it ended. Happy enough to keep me satisfied but also there's a bit of sadness in that she might not survive for long.

Angel Heart ep11 - Not too much to say really. The story is basically winding down in this episode. It's basically a lighthearted, comedy episode. What I like about this series is that it handles the serious side of things well but also the comedy as well.

Particular favourite moments was Master Li giving people those dirty looks when they were about to talk to him as he was out with Xiang Ying. Also the scene where Xing Hong reveals her name and the way she chases him

I forgot about ep11, how could it I! it was full of comedy

specially when Hong lets slip Ying?s name after deciding not to tell her and her over the top reaction (as well as Ryo elbow rubbing with Hung while blurting out a fake reason as to why they chose it) and the stuff with Master Li was Class from the reaction and scary faces to the photo booth.

                              Hantsuki 6:

I was kinda hoping for more of an epilogue of sorts, to kinda show how they get to the photo at the end of the episodes. Oh well, it was an enjoyable ride while it lasted.

So the new season is approaching(well technically it's already started with the Kyo No Go No Ni anime) what series' are you guys looking forward to? There's a hell of a lot coming, something like 50+ new shows I think and of those about half of them look interesting enough.

Safe bets for me are Aria the Natural, School Rumble 2nd season and Ah! My Goddess 2nd season. Hopefully they'll all be of the same quality or even better than the first seasons. I'm also going to check out Tsubasa Chronicles 2nd season and XXXHolic. Hopefully Tsubasa will start progressing a lot more in this second season and hopefully the music will be of the same quality(which is one of my favourite things about the first season).

New stuff I'm looking forward to:

NANA - Based on a manga from the same mangaka that did Paradise Kiss(Ai Yazawa), so hopefully the story will be as entertaining. Not entirely sure but I think it's a romance/slice of life anime that follows the love lives of two girls named Nana and who share an apartment or something.

Gintama - From what I'm reading this looks set to be the next big shounen jump anime, although it seems to be focused more on the comedy(which is always a good thing IMO). Starts next week right after Bleach in Japan, you might have seen the little ad at the end of this weeks Bleach episode. About out of work samurais struggling to make a living IIRC.

Garasu no Kantai - Only saw a brief low res trailer, which showed what looked like a pretty big battle, loads of spaceships. Looks like an epic scifi anime and I've seen some people saying Legend of the Galactic Heroes meets Rose of Versailles(not seen either of those so I can't comment). I'm interested because it seems to be joint venture between GONZO and Satelight(who recently did Noein which is ace).

Disgaea - Being a fan of the game I'm definitely checking this out. Not much else to say really.

Kiba - The art looks nice, but that's really all I'm going by. Story seems like standard action fare. Could be good.

Higurashi no Naku Koroni - Based on a very successful doujin Murder mystery game. Again could be good not too sure.

Air Gear - Same mangaka behind Tenjou Tenge. So expect another fanservicey action anime. Although it's supposedly more lighthearted than TT.

There's quite a few more more as I mentioned that look interesting or have a bit of a hype surrounding them such as Nishi no Yoki Majo ~Astrea Treatment~(The good witch of the west), The Third, Black Lagoon, Yume Tsukai, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu. Some stuff from BONES(Eureka7, FMA) as well such as Ouran School Host Club and Jyu-Oh-Sei, though from what I've heard they're aimed at girls more than anything. Still BONES's track record has been excellent so I'll probably check those as well.

There's bound to be a few surprises in there somewhere. I'll probably check out most of them for a few episodes and see how I get on.
