i always make it a point of the stuff i like to buy the originals, if i can

still holding out for a lovely set of the tv series Alchemist and i would be quite happy to pay into the ?1** for it, Champloo just cost me ?51 and its the best ?51 i've spent recently

i dont own alot of Anime but the stuff i own in my eyes is just fantastic and worth spending the money on

fansubs are a nice try before you buy option

Oh I agree. I've just started buying the Ergo Proxy DVD's when I've got the 720p fansubs.

Not buying FMA till some kind of box set of sorts appears, as the individual DVD's would work out cripplingly expensive.

anyone know what the new bleach opening is called and the death note one, if at all they are out yet. i really like those.

The Death note one is called "the World" and it's performed by nightmare. Sometimes the fansubbers translate the credits and usually the title and stuff for the opening are displayed during it. Although I just did a quick search on another site to find out anyway, but checked with Live-Evil's version and they have the song title translated and displayed. Anyway, it's out there. I'll have to get back to you on the Bleach one.

Stainboy, don't watch Full metal Alchemist, I warn you. The series is SO good that everything after it will be a hollow disappointment!

                    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I LOST MY ENTIRE HUGE REPLY TO ZAPPSTER! ****ING IE!

Let's see if I can remember...

                    Death Note episode 7

This strikes me as the same thing that happened with the noose appearing at the end of the episode which you seemed to feel really strongly about before coming round to it i.e. I think you just took the creepy looks he made the wrong way *shrugs*.

The noose was a moment of stupidity and I kicked myself when I realised, I wasn't expecting something imaginary to turn up. It wasn't obvious to me at all that the creepiness was for the viewer's benefit, I want what I see to be what's actually happening not an exaggeration to show the character's feelings. We can get the gist of what's going on in his head from his thoughts. While I was writing the first reply I did think back, some of creepy looks I can accept because he's looking back and she wouldn't be able to see. It's that he's acting creepy and suspicious the entire time he's talking with her.

Personally I thought he dangeld enough carrots in front of her to make her want to join and lose some of her rational thoughts in the process e.g. getting revenge on the person responsible for killing her fiance. But maybe I'm taking the easy way out and just accepting too easily what's in front of me. I'll probably watch the episode again to see if I can add anything more to the argument later (I kind of forgot some of the points I wanted to bring up when writing this longass post) as I should really be getting on with some work . Interesting discussion all the same though. Always nice to see some differing viewpoints.

Except when you're wrong! Nah, just kidding. What I'm trying to decide is if I had a problem with her as a character (which is fine) or if I have a problem with the writing making her an unbelievable character (which isn't so good). She's an ex-FBI agent, she managed to come up with the right theory when her fiancee didn't have a clue, she should not be taking the word of some kid. It's because I know I wouldn't but then I resent clever kids, I'd have taken him for a cocky showoff

                    Asatte no Houkou
Glad to see you coming round to it. Shouko is unlikable in the first episode and I think that's kind of intentional but in subsequent episodes you see a different side to her and I've even grown to like her. You can even come to understand why she acts the way she does especially as we find out more details about her history with Hiro. The reactions to the change are fairly unique and quite realistic IMO, I think you'll like it. The show seems to me to be a bit of both. Some supernatural elements but with I guess you could say more realistic characters. e.g. when you see the situations Karada finds herself in you can see that although she acts mature she's still naive to the ways of the world. So far having seen to the end of ep 3 it still hasn't degenerated into a fanservicey show which is nice and for the most part the slow pace and slice of life feel is still there which is awesome.
Seen episode 2 and no reactions yet as nobody's found out! I was suprised to see such a slow pace but it's not a complaint. I like the way they deal with Karada and show that she's still vulnerable and can't deal with anything that can happen. Shouko on the other hand seems to be acting like this is an everyday (buy annoying) occurrance.

                    Nana
It is a girly show though. It's aimed at readers of shoujo manga/watchers of shoujo anime which as the name implies is majorly girls. From what I've heard(since I've not had loads of experience with shoujo stuff) it's more realistic and gritty (I guess) in comparison to other shoujo shows/mangas which is what sets it apart.
Maybe we have different understandings of girly. To me a girly show is light, pastelly in colour, set in high school or below, stupid and hyperactive girls, love triangles, girls acting a lot more childish than their age. This is none of that, I've never seen something aimed at girls that's like this.

                    Kanon
I don't know if the usage is correct here but this isn't a girly show. The whole thing is based off an h-game which is aimed squarely at guys. I don't get what you mean by the guy being too whiney though. I think he's class. Some of his comments are just superb and he's been pretty decent so far. What I take from that comment is that he whines a lot which isn't really the case IMO and I have to wonder if we watched the same show. There are two versions of it after all The old 2002 one and this new one that started a couple of months back.
Oh it so is girly! It fits everything I said above And he's a whine-festival, he complains that it's too cold, he was embarassed to have everyone find out he was living with his cousin, he acts like everyone around his is a huge nuiscance yet goes along with their crazyness anyway. I did watch the 2006 version, I checked and it was doing that that exploded IE!

Harem basically means one guy with loads of girls as potential love interests. Another example would be Shuffle. You also get some reverse harems which is basically one girl, loads of guys and I think an example would be Hana Yori Dango or Ouran Host Club.
Ahh, I didn't kow Ouran was going to go in that direction.

LOL. You obviously haven't seen some of the real life pictures that I have. I don't know whether I should be proud of that or be hanging my head in shame
Heh, my ex-housemate knew someone at uni that everyone thought was a girl when they met him. Though that was a fancy dress pub crawl and he was dressed as a Sailormoon character.

Bummed my original reply got wasted, I'm sure I said some more that I've now forgotten.

the current bleach opening is by Yui.
i think its called rolling star....i think its noted on the opening credits anyway.

all of Yui's stuff is excellent too

Okay, you've got a deal with Ouran, not sure about Ai****eruze Baby tho

As for Naruto i think your the only person in history to hate the 2nd OP. How can you not love the Haku/Sasuke/Naruto Bridge fight and the results of it, still ranks as one my fav moments of the show. As for Sakura she's pretty useless throughout with odd shining moment here and there(one happens to be in Forest part of the exam) but other than that you woul dhave to wait till the time skip for her to kick some ass. And i think your about 1 or 2eps from the 1st major CGI fight the Ice mirrors with Orochi vs Sasuke with lots of added anime only action to the fight.
I'm confused, did I mention the bridge fight? As for the 2nd OP well it's growing on me but I miss the 1st ones too much. The 2nd ED I can't imagine ever warming to, it's like it's for a completely different show. Saw Sakura do some fighting today, as well as Rock Lee, he's awsome

Ai****eruze Baby, although it looks very kiddy and girly has good story and lovable characters. I specially like relationship between Kippei(the boy nanny) and his "girlfriend not girlfriend" Kokoro (and how Kokoro reacts to Yuz).

No you didn't which is why i brought it up. How can you watch that bit and not mention anything about it, or Fight between Orochi/Sasuke . As far naruto OP's go my fav is still Fighting Dreamers which i think is the next OP.

Hey, watched the RAW version of MAI Otome Zwei today. Very pretty, very good, characters got older a bit and it was very good for a 30 minute OVA. I recommend any of the MAI universe to download it and enjoy watching it. You will not be disappointed!

I think our definitions are getting crossed somewhere. But all I know is that I was right before. It's a shoujo anime based on a shoujo manga and as such is aimed at girls, which is in a sense where I was going with the girly comment. There's really not a whole lot else to say on the matter. I'm going by the anime/manga standard here. Shoujo = aimed at girls, shounen = aimed at boys, seinen = aimed at young men, josei = aimed at young women. Whether you've never seen anything like it that's aimed at girls doesn't make a blind bit of difference to what it has always been categorized as.

Again this is aimed at guys. It's based on an h-game which again was aimed at guys. See above really. I think the right category for this would be seinen, probably.

So that's really one thing that he whined about, out of all that. Again I just don't see it I'm afraid or maybe I don't want to see it *shrugs* but too whiny is the last words I'd use to describe him. The rest can pretty much be chalked up to typical teenage behaviour, which is after all what he is.

I'll leave the death note bit for later...

Erm...? You've misunderstood me a lot, I was never debating whether Nana was shoujo or not, all I said was it doesn't come across girly to me, there's nothing for you to be right about. So it makes a lot of difference that I haven't seen anything like Nana before because it makes it unique in my eyes.

No that's 2 things he whined about (and he didn't just do it once) and one constant attitude that the existence of everyone is putting him out a great deal. He lives in a constant state of whine Okay, his feelings about the girls arn't that harsh but he doesn't seem to enjoy his time with any of them. It's hard to see it appealing to guys as well, maybe guys that fantasise about having simpering idiots following them about. Maybe instead of the word "girly" I should use "cutesy"?
