New and current FS anime Topic

Has anyone seen Mushi-shi?
Ive made a few new friends on MAL and they keep recommending it to me. Its also really high in the top anime list. If its as great as everyone says, i can't believe ive missed it. Im not usually for one missing out on good animes when they first appear.

It is great. One of my favourite shows from the last few years really and up there with the likes of Lagann, Haruhi etc... I can certainly see why some people might not like it(episodic nature, slow paced, no real "action"), but it ticks all the right boxes for me. It's also one of the rare occasions where I think the anime is an improvement on the manga. Simply because it doesn't really deviate from the source material much and you get all the added stuff like the music and the voice acting which are excellent.

Wow. That was brutal. You could kinda see it coming, what with the extremely happy and joyous scenes from the previous ep (always a bad sign in my epxerience) and also the spoiler-ish nature of the OP and ED.

Very good show though. I should have been on it from the start really. I'd put it right along side my other favourites for the season.

Macross ep 8 - I enjoyed that.... again. And there was some point to it eventually. I'm almost ashamed to admit I thought it was one of the most entertaining episodes I've seen in a while in a sort of leave-your-brain-at-the-door way.

Geass ep 8 - Words fail me. I guess they've put an end to that arc. No new ep for two weeks either

also been watching the Nico Nico Medley videos religiously for like a week now lol, bit annoyed that i cant find an mp3 of the ver4.0 47/8 track one, got various ver of the 33track one tho, for those that dont know them:

I'm looking forward to Natsume Yuujinchou. If I remember rightly I was getting Mushishi vibes from it whilst reading up about it. Also Birdy the mighty I'll probably watch because of the animation talent that's supposed to be involved. I suppose now would also be a good time to catch up on the first season of hidamari sketch too.

Can't recommend this enough. One of the few animes I'd give a 10 to with no hesitation and like Zappster says, it's such an impressive improvement on the manga without deviating from the authour's original work. The music and animation just give it that added flair that makes it all so real. (Just typed this and realised it's pretty much word for word what Zapp typed. )

As for the summer season, Hidamari and Slayers are both dead certain, Sekirei for my guilty pleasure fan-service fix(it's quite DearS-ish) and cautiously optimistic about Birdy, Natsume, World Destruction and Mahou Tsukai.

Quite tempted by DMC since it's studio 4c but the premise doesn't appeal. So yeah, all but 6 series are getting tried.


Edit: Natsume's being done by the makers of Kurenai. Even more hopeful now.

Edit 2: Meant to say; kurenai 8 was really good, picking up a bit now and Kaiba 5 was another trip through mystery, head scratching and just looking stunning.

I dropped Kaiba. As much as i love the animation, colours and style. I just couldn't work out what the hell was going on most of the time.

Kurenai ep 9 - a great ep but it left me so mad in the end,

Maybe because they made the main characters so likeable it was hard to see shinkurou just beaten to plup by that crazy women, and because of the many animes over the years i just expected and wanted him to powerup and beat the **** out of them... gaaaaaa to see him just battered and unable to do anything so annoying and if he's to get Murasaki he's gonna need to do something about gaining strength. Looks like next episode is the "emo" one where he finds a backbone to go get her back.

just a bit of a waste for him to have the **** kicked out of him and him doing nothing much at all especially after him giving that speech. I guess it's necessary though for him to get even stronger. The Kuhoins are one messed up family though with all that incest going around. Even more creepy was when they were saying that in the past, at age 13, some of the girls would have already had a child or two. How the heck do they stave off the genetic problems?!

The last, last episode of Baccano is finally out and what an excellent end to it all. Wraps up everything rather nicely. Such a shame that they probably won't get a second series.

2 more OVAs are coming in Augest and September but aren't part of the main cast i believe, suppose to be about some of the other immortals.

I fancy getting back into some anime, it's been a while I don't think I tried any of the newer series from this year. God knows what half finished stuff was on my temporarily dead PC so I'm gonna start some series from scratch. Gonna go back and see what you've all been watching over the last few months.

Watch Kurenai(Character/drama), Macross F(Love triangles/Singing/Mecha) and Code Geass R2 for sure.

After that the only decent shows are Soul Eater, Maid Guy, Library Wars, Real Drive, Druaga and XXXholic 2nd season, everything else is harems or romace comedies.

I'd add Kaiba, Nabari No Ou and Nijuu Mensou No Musume to that list as well. These three rank with my current favourites at any rate.
