Myself; Yourself getting pretty dark... by ep5 we have (assumptions by me)

*Dead Beat main kid tried to kill himself
*Priest girl clearly had some go wrong with parent that involved strangling
*crazy pet killin granny who's out to possibly get Priest girl...
*Aoi voice+huge tits and strangley not considered to be part the harem.
*loli girl wants to get with main guy now shes been dumped.. he's been making all the moves to get into her pants without even thinking about it.

all we need now is the twins dark secret(twincest?) and something from Aoi(rape?)

surprising show, underdog of the season

Minami-ke ep 2 - that was lovely. I'm finding it the perfect replacement for Lucky Star at the moment, speaking of which I should finish that up soon too. Should hopefully catch up on the subbed eps of Minami-ke soon.

Minami-ke ep 5 - Had me chuckling lots. Kana is definitely my favourite out of the 3.

Dennou Coil ep 12-20 - Caught up with this. I still don't like Yasako although ep 12's beard wars was amazing. Started getting really interesting in the last few episodes though.

Higurashi ni Kai ep 12-18 - It explains a lot more about what the hell is going on but I think the change of method of telling the plot is a change for the worse. Although that said there's no way they could have managed to have kept it as before with the current storyline.

Yeah, should hopefully be pretty cool and a nice departure from most series *fingers crossed*

I really should get back to the game some time.

Genshiken episode 5 left me thoroughly disturbed. There must have been 10 minutes of it that I could actually watch and the rest involved a lot of skipping.

Dropped Mokke from my list today. There's a good idea in there but it's just too repetitive and dull at the moment.

Fellow anime watchers, I'm wondering if somebody could do me a huge favour? What seems to be the theme around here lately, my external hard disk died and luckily, I've been able to re-download most of what I had and the stuff I can't get I'm not too fussed about except for Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Could somebody possibly burn me the series or failing that, whatever they have to get me back on track? I'll of course reimburse the kind soul with a few blank discs and a little something extra for their troubles.

I know you've all been waiting for this one to come out.

ICE ep3 - sadly the last episode, crammed full of stupid story, terrible acting, gore and strangest ending ever that when from horribly clich'e to wtf. Divergence Eve would jealous of ICE's plot...

                  Gunm00 ep5/6 -

much better, the sniper guy is actually alikeable now(the sniper shot to space was something special) and we get our first 'newtypes', at least we know why the coward pilot has that haircut to make it obvious to stupid people his personality quirk. Ep6 was fun with more asskicking for exile's pilot from another Ace in a crapper mecha than him, I hope this theme stays

After the first episode I gave up on ICE, it was a little too odd for me.

Minami-ke ep.6 killed me twice with laughter during the second half. A friend of mine dismissed it as being an Ichigo Mashimaro-look-a-like...well, it could be, but it's probably since Azumanga Daioh I've laughing so hard at an anime.

                      Gunm00 ep5/6
Ah, the more I watch of this, the worse it gets.

So, yes, we've got newtypes. How novel, really.

Idolm@ster, far from being a masterpiece and cliched as much it could be, holds more story in its first five episodes than probably the whole first season of Gundam 00. At least it's technically sound, but I'd like that Sunrise stops digging into the Gundam franchise just to make money and produces something with a story, being Gundam related or not...Legend of Galactic Heroes anyone?

I dunno about that. I'd be the first to admit that Gundam 00 hasn't exactly been brilliant but I'd argue the point (exaggerated or not) that Idolm@ster had more story in its first 5 episodes. I've only seen 5 episodes of Idolm@ster(another series I should probably get round to finishing) but there really wasn't a whole lot happening in those episodes IIRC. Gundam 00 has had more to it I'd say in the episodes I've seen (up to the end of ep 4).

I agree on some points though. I'd like it if they tried something a bit different. Perhaps something a bit more gritty/realistic (well as realistic as you can get with giant stomping robots) with mecha. Something where hardened veterans wipe the floor with the angsty teenager pilots that seem to be commonplace now. Maybe something a bit more tactical, where the pilots have to actually keep an eye on their ammo/energy reserves rather than spamming their fire all over the place. Or maybe just Gurren Lagann 2

ep6 was brilliant, 2x killer techniques had me laughing for ages, that and him being caught shopping after killer technique 1

It's a bit exaggerated, but in the end Indolm@ster was an enjoyable show - not groundbreaking, it's full of cliches and probably production went nuts after the main robot won by a wide margin a popularity contest, but it created something from absolutely nothing (I guess Lemon Angel Project taught something), while Gundam 00 right now is a commercial device built on previous Gundam series; I don't think it will change too much, but at least both Gundam Seeds started with a fairly interesting situation.

I would have said both SEEDs were just as guilty of the stuff you're saying about Gundam 00. I liked the opening section of SEED but then I was told it was pretty much just the original Gundam (which I haven't seen) with a new lick of paint. And then Destiny's opening was almost exactly the same as SEED's. So whilst I agree that SEED was pretty entertaining (even though it was still apparently derivative), I wouldn't say the same for Destiny which had a very distinctive been there, seen that feel to it.

Maybe I shouldn't be saying too much since I've not seen the majority of the older Gundam shows but I'm just thankful they didn't have Celestial Being raiding another facility at the start to steal all their hi-tech brand new gundams.

Yes and no. Wars in both series had a similar starting point, but then evolve in a very different way. The original Gundam can be found guilty of following some trends of the late 70s/early 80s (a bit of superhero syndrome, too many Gundam gadgets) but still follow a precise, "real" story with some drama where the main character doesn't end in being a super-duper-uber-hero with the most powerful mecha in the whole universe (the RX-78 is surpassed by the MS-14 Gelgoog in the end but Zeon is unable to turn the tides of war due to limited availability of the design and lack of experienced pilots, mirroring Germany' situation during WWII); there are several other connection points between the two series (and other UC Gundam series), but like some of the AU (well, even some UC ones) series, Seed and Seed Destiny are built around their flashy superhero characters rather than a good story.
Now, in a two-season arc everything can change and I'll be glad if Gundam 00 turns out to be even a semi-decent mecha series, but unfortunately the situation doesn't look too good.

Or maybe just Gurren Lagann 2
Superhero thing done right. Gurren Lagann really surprised me: the first episodes were a bit shallow, then it turned out to be the best series Gainax has done in years. Hell, if you want to do a superhero series it should be like Gurren, not something with angsty teenagers delivering one-liners.
