Hmm... I haven't watched a D Gray-man ep in a while. From checking I've got about 17 episodes worth to catch up on. Last seen episode was ep 32. From the comments it seems it's not much better a bit further down the line. Shame because I quite liked it at the start. I reckon I'll get caught up on the manga now actually. Read the first volume ages ago. Would certainly save more time than watching the remaining anime episodes.
@Stainboy: Denno Coil has something like 16 episodes out 13 of which have been subbed in english by one group or another. It's got a total of 26 episodes I believe and I think there was a bit of a break from airing recently but it seems to be back to the 1 episode a week schedule it's had from the start.

As for what the manga covers, it cover Chiaki and Nodame obviously but also a whole variety of old and new people...

I've been watching Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto (ghost, couldn't they find an even more unpronounceable name?) lately, on the assumption that a series subbed by Shinsen, with a soundtrack by the guy who did Chaos Legion, couldn't be bad.
And it is indeed, quite good. I'm a bit more than halfway through and I like it, a lot. Not the most original of premises (demonic head possesses figures of power and has them wreck havoc upon medieval Japan, lone samurai with a magical sword seeks to stop it), but the fact that it ties into a key part of Japan's real-world history (a full-scale war in the final years of the shogunate, with which Europe gambles to gain influence on the newly-opened country), and somehow involves a kabuki troupe in all that, makes it much more interesting than the countless jidaigeki shows before and after it.
Somehow though, I feel it's crippled by its cast of thousands and constant name-dropping. The problem here is that my knowledge of Japanese history is sketchy at best, and I guess any Japanese fellow watching, say, WW2-era dramas, would be complaining just the same and asking who the hell are De Gaulle, Churchill, Pétain, Goering et al. Still, I can't even remember the names of roughly half the main cast (in my defense, their names haven't been used more than twice so far).
I guess it'd be better with less characters. I'm not certain it could be done, though. I'll be watching the rest of the series, still. Overall it's good, and it's had its moments of sheer brilliance (e.g. Akizuki slashing through the curtain to reveal the pier). Nice soundtrack, too.Last edited by Wild_Cat; 20-09-2007, 20:40.

I think i posted awhile back after finishing it myself, i found the ending spoiled it for me(to much magic crap) as well as the returning badguy stuff and the ending the british commando's got. Never really had a problem with the large cast of characters, i only knew a few of the important name drops from watching over anime over the years which for me where Ryoma, the Shinsengumi and some of the generals.
Bleach ep141 - returned to the manga canon recently and thankgod! Inoue Nooooooooo!!!! wish she hadn't chickened out at the end, been waiting for that bit to be animated for ages.
Also caught up with the newest Toward the Terra, Darker Than Black and Seirei no Moribito, Kaze no Stigma, Dennou Coil, Heroic Age and finally Zero no Tsukaima 2 all really good and close to ending. Standouts going to DtB Hei and November 11 being badasses, DC's mini A.I. war in the form beards in ep12, and the kickass brutal spear fighting in Seirei no Moribito.
leaving Claymore till ep26 comes out to watch 24-26 together, even if they've messed up the story, i still curious as to what they have come up with for an ending. And School Days, i can't bring myself to watch it for some reason since ep2 maybe cos i just its going to end up bloody mess and i sorter like my happy endings... think i just store them up and watch them after the subbers have finished after hearing ep11 or 12 was cancelled due to the scenes on it and real life event that was similar happening that week.

Agreed, the beards' nuclear war in Dennou Coil was both awesome and sad to watch. The more this show goes on, the more I like it.
Whose subs are you guys following for Seto no Hanayome, now that Ayako seems to have dropped it? I've tried Your-Mom, but the subs are atrocious, and Philantropy, but the encoding is crap. Come on, papa needs his medicine!

Although, the final episode f the manga is expanded a touch more in the manga so it's probably worthwhile starting from there (volume 9). The j-drama I've been told is very good and follows the same stuff covered in the manga although, there's a going to be a couple of specials in january that cover part of the next bit of the manga. ^^
As for what the manga covers, it cover Chiaki and Nodame obviously but also a whole variety of old and new people...and I feel like a cheap bastard reading it off the PC. So I don't know whether to buy some of the manga when I can afford it (even ?5 is lots to the jobless -_-;
or hope/wait for more anime.
Just read volume 1 of Paradise Kiss (library has a decent selection) think it's the first time I've read manga before before watching the anime. Not sure about it yet, I'm not too keen on any of the characters but I'll see if they grow on me, I think the library has the whole lot. I'm gonna download some of the anime and look at that but I'll try and stay ahead of it.
I've downloaded 8 episodes in one chunk of Sumomo mo Momo mo and watched I think up to number 4. It's funny (I like the Dad and how he pretty much orders them to have sex all the time (that's gotta be enough to grab the attention of anyone who's not watched it yet)) but I get tired of girls who throw themselves at guys and from the opening credits looks like it might turn into a bit of a harem. I'll at least watch the 8 episodes that I have.
Saw episode 1 of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, a suicidal teacher - I love itdoes this have anything to do with the people behing Welcome to the NHK? Some of the style and humour seems familiar? I'm definitely up for more of that.
A bit of a comedy overload so I watched ep1 of Bokurano, not sure I've seen enough to comment yet. There's a bunch of more serious stuff saved up as well, I guess after finishing Death Note I was hesitant to get my teeth into something new.
And I've basicly been leeching titles of shows you guys have been talking about while I've been away from the net, I need to look for something on my own, haha. I have seen the first episode of Animal Crossing now, it's fun if you've played the game cos you can point at the screen and say "wow, a packet of seeds!". It's based on the DS version of the town, it has the cafe and the girl arrives in a taxi so unfortunately no train and no Rover
Bloody hell, I started writing this this morning.

Replying to myself I know but I've got a quick question about Nana. I'd like to read the manga, the library had volume 5, cool but it's the only one they have on the entire Essex system (why 5?!) and I was the first to borrow itIs there a lot extra in the manga are am I safe starting from where the anime left? I'm having trouble finding were that is, I found some scanlations that I didn't recognise but they seemed to early in.

Paradise Kiss - I'd recommend watching the anime. I really enjoyed it and it has some really lovely music in it. well worth watching as it's fairly short. I suppose if you're reading the manga then it might not be worth it, because from what I remember it follows it fairly closely apart from the end bit. Been a while since I watched the show and read the manga mind you.
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei - I don't think it's the same people behind the show or it's being adapted from the same author's work. It's just the same style of dark humour I guess.
Nana - From what I'm told the anime follows the manga fairly closely. I don't think there are any major changes/omissions in the show. I just finished downloading this actually. I think I might have a look at it in a few days if I get the chance (gonna be a bit busy soon) and report back if you or anyone is still interested.

Re: Nana - is it the manga you've just finished downloading, I assume so? Is it finished or still ongoing and do you know how much more of it there is than the anime? I'm reading a scan of chapter 40 at the moment and just gonna go from there as I think it was fairly close to the end of the anime
both bands were being interviewed on the same show and Hatchi was watching it on TV
I'll watch ep one of Paradise Kiss and see which I prefer, in theory I could go up to the library tomorrow and read most of the manga - except the last, it's missing!!! But will I?
Been downloading loads today, might stay up and have a marathon.

That's a fair bit of extra story, I'm glad it's there cos I really like the characters and wasn't ready to leave them yet. It's an easy read as well unlike Nodame which I think was so visually based that it seemed like there was nothing there when I came to read the manga.
Let me know when you start reading past the anime (if you haven't already started). I'm in chapter 43 at the moment and I'm hoping
that Hatchi and Takumi split up, their relationship reminds me of a couple of friends of mine who were together, my mate wasn't a c**t (I don't use that word unless it's deserved either) like Takumi but the whole thing was mostly one-sided with her kidding herself but never being truly happy deep down. The flash "forward" at the end of the anime hints that she's on her own now as well.
