So I'm attempting to get back up to date to stuff and have been working my way through Needless up to today's episode 23...

WHAT THE ****. That about sums up the scene, 14 or so minutes into the episode.

Edit: Also, I enjoyed Summer Wars but definitely thought Tokkikake was the superior film. Still a good watch though.

"aside from 5 series, there's not much!"

You're gonna hate next season, there's only 16 shows starting compared to the 25+ you normally get.

Hanamaru Kindergarten could be good so long as it doesn't go the Kodomo no Jikan route. Dance in the Vampire Bund sounds interesting, Chu-Bra has got to be worth watching at least the first ep and I'll probably check out sora no woto as I enjoyed Kannagi and it has the same staff working on it.

Hahaha the premise of Durarara sounds like it could be hilarious

Haruhi movie trailer. Haven't embedded because it's a bit spoilery

Kimi ni Todoke ep12 - Sanada is a total bro,

i just love how all this dirty work by Kurumi isn't working

            , so glad this isn't a 13ep show,

almost feel like it could end in 1ep if he confesses next episode

Blacksmith ep12 - Its ending wasn't great, why did he just stand there and let him make that blade... i really dislike stupid villians. Even though they gave us the back story the show felt like it went nowhere in 12eps and really don't care if it gets a 2nd season or not.

Nyan Koi ending was meh, but it was to be expected from a decent Harem show wanting a 2nd season, Setokao no Ichizon improved in the last 2/3 eps just enough from terrible to average which was for me down to the backstories while the jokes continued to fall flat, if they removed that pink haired girl the show would improve 50%.

Just waiting on Darker than Black s2 last episode(can't believe its only 12eps) expecting one of 4

to die which as sadly been spoiled for me from a picture i've seen. All i can say without having seen the ep, i was kinder expecting it to happen so Hei could get his powers back with all the stuff about her being a clone, if the brother dies i would expect Sous to die.

Darker than Black s2 ep12 - what a way to mess up right at the end, it could have easily have done with being 2 episodes, typical BONES.

Just didn't see the end to kill of July and Suou after 12 eps of the character development for a Earth 2.0 with everyone alive again but no Hei(part form his star). While this sorts out a clean slate for season 3 and gives Hei his powers back, it just make season 2 journey worthless.

Black and White Yin's make little sense as to why they exist (we are clearly missing story between Season 1 and 2), did Yin becoming more than a Doll(or anyone as Doll) give them Hax powers??? Why didn't they go all out animating the Ninja girl vs hentai Rock guy if Hei wasn't getting a good fight, bah!

Good show right up until the end, quite different to the format of season1 but Hei is always ace and Suou and July were turning into good characters.

Caught up on a few things i wanted to watch over the holidays.

Paprika - enjoyable film, nothing thats going to challenge for the top but it is a visual treat. Felt like a film version of Paranoia Agent, from the art style and music down the characters themselves(specially the cop).

Detroit Metal City film - not as good as the source material or up to scratch with the animated version, mainly down to how camp they made negi, everything the actor did as him was well over the top and spoiled the film for me, but then kauser, Pig(lead girl, mainly cos she hot) and the crazy manager save it. Felt it missed to much of the actual band members, Jagi came across as just some stooge, and the rival bands got nothing but mentions , still like the end of the film with Gene Simmons doing ****ingham Palace .

Hellsing U ep6/7 - noticed ep 7 was out(then that i didn't have ep6 either) and loved every minute of it, the stand of between the Geese mercs with vamp girl vs the Nazi vamp and Mind bender vamp was great

, i cheered loudly when during the 1st attack, the almost AA gun like setup well over the top follow by the dirty tricks and then the nasty battle inside the mansion. Loved seras grinding the leader vamp face into the walll.. oouufffff!!! lead mercs death was as manly as it gets to.

Combine that with the best animation around and the brilliant different ending credits each ova, make a great show.

Sora no Otoshimono ep13 - the finish was predictable with

Blue girl being freed, the gundam battle was a fun treat to, surprisingly nasty just before the saving with wings getting torn off(ouch).

                Decent show.

Sasameki Koto ep13 - after all that build up over the last 12eps and then all the teasing turning ep13 im pretty annoyed nothing got sorted, guess we'll have to wait for season 2 if it gets on

Huzzah, finally a UK release for Ocean Waves!

Hellsing was pure awesomeness. As usual.

Sora no Otoshimono ended well, one of the most surprising shows of last year, loved it.

KnT continues to be good. Damn cliffhangers.

This season's anime looks set to be pretty bad. Ladies vs butlers is awful, Chuu bra seemed pretty bad, that vampire series looks like bland violent seinen. Only the Gainax series has a chance at salvaging the winter.

Ladies vs Butlers is pure ecchi trash and being there's no queens blade this season

i kind of liked Sora no Woto, was basically K-on meets the Army. Not seen anything else new yet.

KnT ep13 - EAT DAT Kurumi! Sparkles and Bubbles indeed,

if only she said yes to the girlfriend/boyfriend thing

This time for sure, I will keep up with the new season ignoring how I failed for the last 3 seasons and now have 700+ episodes in my storage drive. Anyway impressions on new series:

Durarara; Very Baccano-ish feel with the interaction of various characters although there's nothing really of the plot so far. I did have a bit of a lol at the animators slipping in

Baccano footage on teh big screen and then the big cardboar cutout of Horo

                            Very well animated series though.

Dance in the Vampire Bund: Interesting way about going about the introduction of the series and probably a lot more apt to how Japanese would react in this day and age. I'd say this episode was more like episode 0 than the first one proper since it's nothing but a big setup introducing people and the storyline without doing anything. Seems good though.

Ookami Kakushii - Trying to go for a Higurashi-esque story involving wolves but not really working so far for me yet. Character designs are a bit umemorable and the dialogue a bit cringeworthy. Hopefully the story goes somewhere.

Hidamari Series 3: **** yes more Widefaces. Nothing to be said, still great series. New characters finally hit the scene and they seem to work quite well. Slightly worried when Isaw the VA for one was Maka from Soul Eater but she did a good job.

Baka to Test to Shojaku: The main idea behind this seems a bit crap but the characters seem to making up for the plot. Fairly solidly looking show but remains to be seen how it'll turn out.

Edit: Skimmed through Ladies versus Butlers. It's exactly like Tobal said. Nothing needs to be said beyond that.

In terms of other stuff, Eclipse released recently a couple of a episodes of a 3d series called T0. Quite recommend checking this out. Two seperate sci-fi stories that are quite interesting and the 3d aniamtion is rather good considering as well.

Anyone ever watched GeGeGe No Kitaro?, i stumbled across it this evening & i really like it. Steeped in ancient japanese mythology it's suprisingly fun to watch however there only seems to be a small handful of subbed episodes done (sigh)

Is there any other series like this that has a lot of japanese mythology in it?

There are two live-action Kitarou movies too. The newest anime series ran for a good while but Kitarou is targeted more at kids. You've NEVER seen any of the DS/Wii games? That's a shock.
Some of the youkai are from myth but I'm pretty sure some were made up. Kodansha seems to have released bilingual comics back in 2002.
It was a favourite of my wife's but we always watched it raw.
