Yeah, I only watched subbed stuff. The stuff you're describing as enjoyable is called Shonen anime. Looking into that genre will give you a starting point for anime watching.

I didn't for years I just watched the dubs then I started Downloading Bleach years ago when it first started & just never got past the first 30 episodes & obviously they were sub only so got more into the Subs of Anime.
Then I started buying the UK boxsets so started watching them again & thought I'd give the dub a try just to see & I nearly cried at how bad it is...simply shocking!!

I have over the last few months started building up a little collection of stuff to start watching to break up the Bleach love fest but I do love the Shonen style.

Lol yeah but then I'm not quite up to the point where you said it gets pants so maybe I'm still in the honeymoon period with it
I'm easily amused with Anime & love DBZ so seeing as this is just a variation on a theme (Ichigo gets powers, fights, loses, trains, gets stronger, fights again, wins & so on) means it gets a special place in my heart.
Glad I found the Sub before the terrible American Dub came out though...just about THE worst choice of voices I've ever heard in an Anime...Absolutely nothing fits the characters, they all just sound so stupid!!

Dude, do yourself a favour and check out some old school OVAs such as Dirty Pair Flash, Moldiver, Battle Athletes, that sort of era. Sure they look old but the quality is in the viewing. Much better than some of today's offerings (and that's not nostalgia speaking here).

its best to give up on tv bleach and read the manga intead, after about ep80 it kept catching up to the manga so you get this horrible cycle of 1 arc story then 1 arc of filler till it gets so bad you be lucky to have 9 episodes of actually story in a row, there about 350 eps now and only half those contain any canon. Best thing to do it read the manga then go watch the major fights when they get animated. Found an old link i had for filler listings and it looks like they've kept updating it, very useful for getting the episodes worth getting.

As far a my Shounen long running list goes

#1 Hunter X Hunter (they just started a remake up to 13eps so far, author comes up with great ideas and brilliant characters)
#2 One Piece

Old short shows worth finding.
Ben-to - 13ep of people fighting for cut price lunches, fav of many last season.
Scryed - classic underdogging for a stubbon bastard fighting the system and his rival, brilliant ending.
Airmaster - "unique" art but very enjoyable fights.
Busou Renkin - fast paced, some good art,and Papillon being ace.
GateKeepers/GK21 - another classic,
Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha/A's/Strikers - magical girl meets shounen, getting befriended usually means getting battered to hell by the "white devil"

Thanks for the info on Bleach guys I've got up to season 7 on DVD so I'll give it till then & see how we get on anyway

I've been wondering though what are people doing for downloads??

I mean now that Megaupload is gone & most other file sharing sites are bricking it & stopping any new accounts or downloads where do we go for Anime??

I was reading this forum on Anime Take & it appears most are going the way of Megaupload & we will be left without any way to get new fansubs done...that means I won't be getting any of the new series I'd hoped for

Torrents for me and in the far past(04-07) irc and the newsgroups. Torrent by far the easiest when it comes to a new season, and newsgroups are all right to if you gear yourself right with a decent newsgroup reader and smartpar for correcting files, virgin/ntl have a pretty good service that covers all the alt.binaries for at least a weeks worth of history depending on the traffic of the group if your worried about your upload caps and what not, IRC require some knowledge of where to go, how to registor to channels and commands, stuff i've totally lost touch with since moving to torrents

Guilty Crown ep13 - im really enjoying this now, its taken on Code geass mantle of being out right stupid but enjoyable, if only i could find out what that song they played during the fight scene was.

XDCC bots on IRC usually have fairly clear commands to get files from them, but the bandwidth is the bigger issue for groups. Which is why torrents are better in that sense.

ep4's into the new season.

Ano Natsu de Matteru - it really is just Onegai Teacher with a fresh lick of paint, and as expected, love triangles everywhere and loli-senpai being a dick. Keeper.

Another - Really enjoying this thriller/horror, wasn't expecting much but it does get tense when you expecting "accidents" to happen. Keeper

Nastsume s4, Amagami s2 and Nisemonogatari - auto keepers

Mouretsu Pirates - highely surprised with the direction this shows taken, i thought it would be some throw away sci-fi fanservice show but instead we get stellvia of the universe'esk show with a some Hard sci-fi thrown in, something i've not since in a loooooonng time. Hopefully it won't go to crazy once the main story kicks in. Keeper

Rinne no Lagrange - not taking to this so far as they've been hidding alot of the main plot away and the mecha fights haven't been serious yet.

Aquarion EVOL - reasons for how the robots work at full power is beyond stupid, but then thats what makes super robot shows. At least the art and animation is good.

Senki Zesshou Symphogear - main girl not got going yet and they've already written out of the 2 starting cast, be interesting to see how dark this could get, with the occasional hints of relic suits making them crazy for killing. So far Mai-otme light.

Daily Lives if high school boys - gotten so much better since the first episode by introducing alot more cast, ep4 had me laughing alot with the coming together of East and North High and the introduction of the "Funky Girls" outro. Keeper

High School DxD - kept with it as Queens Blade turned out to be once month thing(booo), its alright is all ican say as the MC is just getting beaten senseless everytime with no comebacks making it boring. Manga readers say it suppose to get pretty epic once he learns how to use his gear.

Papa - i like it, just stays on the right side of creepyness so far to make it enjoyable. Hopefully the MC will continue his quest to snare the titty monster and older sister finds someone else..

Brace10 - Ninja Blade light, featuring FMP's Tessa. Alright so far as there been nothing like this for a while.

Kill me Baby - dropping, to much slap stick, meh art and DLoHSB improving every episode make it a chore to watch.

Louise/Z s3 - rubbish i would drop if not for wanting to see how it all ends.. i just skip through epiodes to get a whiff of the plot.

asuna returns 130 years later instead of 100 to find everyone is dead.. then all those messages and photos and the Pres staying alive to the date Asuna promsied she would be back only for her not to turn up

Be interested how Ken writes this out, i can only assume because Chiao is born in this time and does indeed turn up there gonna be some time travel involved for happy ending or we get to find out what happened to Negi which starts a cliffhanger for a new manga. Either way i hope we seen some proper drawn picutres of the grown up girls inside of little photos.

and speaking of stuff ended, Bleach starts its final story arc this coming week and from the sounds of the recent interviews we'll get some filler badguy group forcing out the spirit king and his Zero Squad.

Zombie fish with gas powered legs attack humans infecting them... the only thing i knew going in was that infamous manga page of the shark crashing through the door and thought i might be one of those its so bad its good types.. but its not. avoid!
