Like I said before, I think the main thing working in Fate/zero's favour (aside from the animation being from ufotable) is that it just doesn't have Shirou or any of the high school crap in it. There's ways and means to go about doing serious type series in a high school setting and the original FS/N just didn't do it. Fate/Zero is so much better it's an actual joke.

Totally agree with you about Working's new OP, lacks some of the catchiness of the first one. The one plus point about the new series is that at least they've not totally reset the group dynamics. You're unlikely to get a satisfying conclusion but at least it's an entertaining ride. Plus, more Yamada!

Nearly caught up with most of the important stuff for the season, Ben-to being the most surprising of the series. Guilty Crown is all over the place, Horizon I have no idea what is going on other than the high school stuff seems inappropriate for the supposed serious stuff.

Sukunai is really ramming home that Yozora sucks, Last Exile is proving interesting but lacking details, P4 is competent but lacking a bit on plot currently, Tamayura is just peaceful crack for the soul and Un-go needs to get some kind of actual damn plot going since the mysteries are rubbish

Only thing left is C3 which doesn't have a Kugiloli! Edit: Holy ****. The first episode was pants but the second episode has insane character voiced by Yukari Tamura. Instant markup for me there but thats being biased.

update on my watch list

*Maken Ki dropped, 4 eps of censored cliched school fighting crap

*Un-go dropped after 1ep, just couldn't get into it

*Persona4 is still boring after 4 eps and all the persona's looks like rubbish, just waiting out to see if aplot turns up nthe next 2/3eps before i decide to drop it, atm it seems to be just giving the character a setup episode.

*Guilty Crown, 3eps in... i just don't know, i hate the MC and they kind of explained away the leaders hax crap from ep2, ep3 was horrible one second he's like "what about my feelings" and "i don't want to fight" next he's carrying out leader orders. At least the end of the ep3 produced something enjoyable. Sticking out to see how bad it gets as the animation smooths the ride somewhat.

*Gundam Age ep4 in, dull so far and its not helped by the art design either. The new Sleggar/Mwu character type looks like he has cat ears.. just hoping they'll put some faces to the enemies as itshardly entertaining to watch them beat what seems like A.I. mechas.

*C3 5eps - in the small boat on this, ep1 terrible but every epsiode after it was totally unexpected, they kept upping the violence, and i've pretty much enjoyed the brutal fights and the fairly insane 1st enemy if anything to go by i hope they rest of them are just as mad (ep5 spoilers)

, getting 1 arm lobbed off, the 2nd broken so she bite down on a massive axe shattering her teeth had me laughing, heck it was probably more humane to finish her off after getting her ribs smashed in and losing an eye.

Everything else is pretty good, only one i'll mention thats improved is Horizon finially starting its plot in ep4 but so far lacks anything to do with all the main characters introduced in the first 3 eps which is beyond strange.

they continue to completely ditch the "lol terrorists in school" theme and continue with Shu not being such a spineless **** like he was previously. Fountain scene was good although I kinda agree with the comments that they did that scene first then built the rest of the episode around it.

Edit: Un-go was surprisingly watchable as well. That might have been down to me liking that particular subject matter of course but hopefully it's the start of an upward trend!

Hidamari Special was ace as well. Really psyching me up for the 4th series although I must say the OP song wasn't that good. The ED video was really, really well done though.

Guilty Crown - lets hope the school stuff is gone, can't see why he'd go back now he's known terrorist, unless creepy guys done something.. but even then how would weiner know about that and return to school... lets see what ep6 brings!

Tamayura ep5 - god damn i love this show, had me grinning like an idiot all the way through when

Potte's friend turns up and they get that tension and awkwardness right between meeting friends of a friend for the first time.. and the bit at the end when she lets out how lonely she is seeing Potte make 4 good friends was aaaaawwwwww moment, though it was pretty clear from earlier interactions in the day like the nickname bit. Great show!

Well the good times in Guilty Crown sure didn't last long. Pretty ****ed up for Shoe to get NTR'd after all that. Also, it slightly beggars belief that

the entire crew is aware that he's essentially a normal civilian but still expect him to have all the basic skills of a soldier within a week. Also, many sighs were had at the "walk-in-on-guy-naked-and-it's-still-his-fault" scene.

There's something about it that makes me tune in every week though. Possibly the hope of a few deaths.

That aside, Fate/Zero remains wordy but really enjoyable. Horizon's also picking up but I'll be damned if I can coherently grasp what the **** is going on.

I tried the first episode of that and while I liked the main girl, the way the series was screaming "LOVE TRIANGLE!" every 30 seconds kinda hasn't encouraged me to watch the rest so far. I've been hearing that it's really good though despite my own views.

That and Last Exile are the best shows of the season so far, counting Mawaru Penguindrum as a last season show.

I'm with jeff on Chihayafuru, been downloading but episode ep1/2 have not made me want to watch it ahead of over shows.

My top show is Ben-to, even after the big boss beats him down hard the very next episode is payback, no training arcs, no emo, no shouting and screaming while charging. While Last Exile, Fate, Shana,HxH, friends and Horizon are good, tamayura and working2 round out my top 3.

Gundam Unicorn ep4 - slow start followed by some awesome mecha war porn! the amount of moblie suit variants was in double figures and not a single bit of reused footage, was marvelous

loved it when the Bylant turn up in fed colours, some fan saying its a nod to Fed ACE pilot being Kou as he was stationed at Torrington

. It had some problems though, trying to jam in alot of story in to 1hr doesn't quite work so we have alot stuff cut away or completely changed, especially the stuff with Loni who definitely needed more building up to make the ending work better for the changes they made to the finale.

Kanba going full evil in the futile attempt to save Himi. Only hope Shouma and Ringo make it out alive.

Mashiro Symphony ep9 - well this is damned unexpected.. i kind of kept with it as the man lead seems to a set of ball to him when it came to the women around him and by god, judging by the preview for ep10 we'll be getting Shuffle levels of the seondary girl win.

Which i have to say even with all the setting up inthe last couple of episodes i fully expected the Miu angle to be done with and to move back onto Airi (or a nobody wins Harem end). Still I wish these shows all go the amagami SS route and just have everyone(but fatty) win.

Bento, Fate/0, HxH, Last Exile, BhT, Working2 all still good, Idolmaster focusing on Chihaya and Haruka (and there friendship) been really enjoyable. Horizon is just plain bonkers with all the technical talk about Politics and Blessing that it put Index to shame for babbling, and Gundam AGE is a zzzzz fest.

Be fair though, Horizon generally ensures that nearly every female character has a couple of large "plots" to suitably distract from the talking.

New season ahead in a weeks time, looking pretty good enough. Nisemonogatari gets top billing for me followed by Natsumi s4 and Amagami s2, the rest i know little about and will just download to try.

As for the old stuff that finished(for now),

*Ben-to didn't finish strong as it started but was by far the most enjoyable shounen show in a long while, seems they spent all the budget on ep10's ice witch / othoros showdown and pretty much cut everything else afterwords, including the the actual last fight.

*Horizon was enjoyable enough for me by mixing the best of index s1(technobable) and s2(fast pace) into one show.. im sucka for when you get "ACCEL" stacked over and over like some sort of MMO/RPG buff.

*Tamayura, wasn't fan of the final arc with the girls making a exhibit, who would turn up to that mishmash of homecrafts even if it was free... but it seemed like the entire town did. Willing to forgive as the previous stuff was enjoyable as was the ending after the exhibit was over.

*Boku wa Tomodachi, typical none ending from the denpa/oreimo guys, would certainly like to see this get a 2nd season(and denpa to)

*C3, ended with them setting up the main villians, but i doubt we ever see a 2nd season as i think it wasn't popular in japan.. not sure why as it was fast paced enough and combined gorey fights with pervy harem show.

*Guilty Crown, part 1 finished, which almost captured Code Geass stupidity, Suspension of disbelief and crap drama. To many rage enducing episodes to elevate to a being a good show but at least it finished on a high. Godspeed American Dan

HxH, Chihaya, Persona, Boredam, last exile 2, and Shana3 continue into the new year and i've yet to finish Working s2 and Fate/Zero(part1) off.
