Indeed. 107 was utterly superb, and I get the feeling it's only going to get better. Makes me feel all tingly inside.

Has anybody else stumbled upon Genshiken yet? Its about a closet otaku who becomes a member of a university anime club. So far, only the first two episodes have been subbed by Solar and Faith and the manga's already been nabbed for western release next year.

It doesn't only focus on the anime side of things, but gaming too; one of the club members is a big gaming fan and is seen playing Guilty Gear XX Reload in the opening sequence. Definitely worth a try if you're feeling a little bewildered by the more fantastical offerings of this season.

Yeah I saw both episodes and I have to say its pretty good, nice set of characters, intellectually thought out points and a nice vibe overall. For some reason it seems like a docu. explaining the things that people misunderstand about otakus, but its all good.

thanks for pointing out Genshiken, its top comedy with tons of cringe worthly moments. ep2 is a stunner, i had to watch it twice, the scenes between the lead otaku and the girl are so funny and the facial expressions they both but on

and that bit at the end was quite sureal, but the sex hungery girl didn't get it in the end, which made me laugh.

the intro for the 1st episode at me at first to, i was thinking this doesn't look very otaku like, and the ending having a different animation for the events of that episode is a nice touch.

p.s. did anyone spot the 'Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien' character in ep 1

Yep, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien and the parent company, Age, are even mentioned in the end credits for that episode (if you're able to read Japanese). If you look closely next to Haruka on the shelf, you should be able to see a figurine of Nurse Witch Komugi Chan as well.

I actually gasped when I heard one of the guys' phones go off in the first episode, I used to have that very same Laputa ringtone years ago...

Lastly, Saki's voiced by Satsuke Yukino, probably most well known for her role as Kaname Chidori in Full Metal Panic. She seems to have the loud and proud, angry girl archtype down to a T now.

Fav moments so far of Genshiken

2 moments in episode 2, when Saki found out that poster what from a porngraphic game, and gasped at with 'she just a kid, YOU strip her' then that Lead otaku with 'you just don't strip her, YOU SCREW HER' the whole pitch of his voice, the animation of the face and saki complete horror at it, prehaps one the funnist things ever.

second is just before kohsaka turns up and there taking the piss out of saki's current plight with Kohsaka otaku obession is just so obscenely funny, specially the 'jab' and her face complete with bulging vain, and the hate in her voice really gets it across, how much she hates them and how in there own sad little way they got one over the 'over-side'

My particular favourite part of Genshiken:

When the club's talking about the clich?d childhood friend plot line in anime only to have Kohsaka and Saki reveal themselves to be the very subject matter at hand, twas amazing.

The well endowed cosplay girl in the opening sequence is set to appear in episode 4, voiced by Ayako Kawasumi (Mahoro from Mahoromatic, Aoi from Ai Yori Aoshi etc).

Pity the manga is licensed. Gonna have a look around for the stuff related to it, hopefully get some jap raws as well.

But on the whole the show was VERY enjoyable, I'm gonna be extra sad and say i wish I was in a club like that.

I know I'll be able to shop this around to a lot of people solely on the basis of Kaida Yuki (Fuji from POT, Kurapica for HxH) being Kosaka's seiyuu.

Kannaduki No Miko just keeps better and better... I even dled the crappy a4l version just to watch episode 6. It's really engrossing atm even though the episode has kinda settled into a rhythm.
