Just stumbled across Yakitate Japan, yeah it's pretty old but im really liking it, It's got loads of silly wordplay jokes that i love & it is like bobobo as it just goes weird for no reason than to make you laugh. Seems like it's not very higly rated online but im enjoying it. Who would have thought baking could make a fun topic for an anime.

The worst thing about Yakitate Japan is that it doesn't go anywhere and just ends.

Indeed the ending is pretty much "go buy the manga".

Puella Magi ep3 - holy crap, did turn dark this episode... while it certainly had a sinister undertone from the start i wasn't expecting them to be this harsh so quickly.

Being they she built up as the mentor and plenty of foreshadowing being given for how dangerous this Magi stuff but i still never expected what seemed to be a main charcter snuffed out quite easily and nastly... getting your head chewed off, cya Mami your ego got the best of you there, will one of them use their single wish to bring her back?

Fractale ep2 - Turning in a nice little show, got alot of Ghilbi theme's to it and a nice sense of adventure to it, im hopefully they don't stick around to the town there in and go in out into the world to explore it.

Have as for what was a pretty dire looking winter line up, Puella Magi, Fratale and Wandering Son have saved it for me, aside from the 3 sequels in Index, KnT and Mitsudomoe.

Black Lagoon OVA3 - they turned up the stupid a notch this episode with some quite franky **** directing making look abit A-team in the shootouts. Strapping a automatic grenade lunacher under pretty big sniper rifle and firing it one handed look so,so stupid.

On the last Yakitate story arc, hoping it's not a totally dire ending as i really am enjoying it, the mango reaction had me pissing myself laughing.

Discovered doremi fansubs have done 2 more of the Doraemon films so i have just thoroughly enjoyed watching Doraemon: Nobita no ningyou daikaisen, it gets ranked up among my favourites along with Nobita's dinosaur.

The plots seem to always follow a set pattern. Yet they always are a joy to watch, i never tire of Doraemon's secret tools & the awesomeness they bring. I really wish some ofthem were real. Even the 1970's tv series still has ideas that can compete with the anime of today, way ahead of it's time even back then & one of the reasons it is my most loved anime of anything. Now if only i had £400 to get all of the dvd box sets, damn you Japan & your obscene dvd prices.

On a different note im wondering if any of you can recommend some more comedy anime? Ones that are totally silly like Yakitate or Bobobo. I love the really crazy stuff, sadly bobobo got licensed so the awesome fansubs stopped & we got dubbed english **** with half the jokes removed.

Battle Atheletes Victory (TV series, not the OVA). Criminally under-rated show.

Other good comedies: Sayonara Zetsubo sensei, Azumanga Daioh.

I never liked Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei..

For comedies I'd say Minami-ke and Lucky Star. :>

There's not much 'out there crazy' shows but most of the new comedy stuff pretty involves school kids like the stuff mentioned above Minami-ke/LS/SZS/Mitsudomoe/PaniPoniDash/Hyakko/kannagi etc.etc.

looking at shows on my online list the likes of Battle Programmer Shirase, Abenobashi Magical Shopping District, Arakawa Under the Bridge, Dokkoida, Genshiken, Maria?Holic, Moyashimon(defo get this), and Soredemo all crop up.

Level E ep1/2 - put it off a while since it air a few weeks ago, the brief skip through ep1 didn't do it justice. It kinder feels like Birdy decode setting but black comedy instead of fighting(though there as been some punch ups) where aliens living in disguise on earth have complicated political relationships and don't need a crazy impulsive alien, a human baseball punk and Ufo nut messing it all up for them. great stuff.

Excel Saga is still one of the funniest things I've ever seen

The funniest anime i have ever seen is Detroit Metal City. Classic.

They're all solid comedies (lol Gainax ending aside with Abenobashi)

Forgot to mention Martian Successor Nadesico. Classic series that parodies mecha and space operas. It's aged a bit (although I believe it got a remaster recently) but it's well worth a watch, especially as it'll have been missed by a lot of people who only started watching anime in the fansub era.

Plus it has character designs by Keiji Gotoh which is always a plus.

Anyone else dropped pretty much every series this season?

Madoka was interesting but I can't stomach a series that bleak and depressing. Nothing else interests me enough to keep watching.

Need to finish of S1 of Kimi ni Todoke though.

id havent really watched anything new for ages. i just find myself watching ongoing stuff like naruto/bleach/dragonball mostly.
think i have about 7 episodes of stardriver sat there unwatched, and have been downloading the new kimi ni todoke, but havent got round to them yet.

the only actual new show i've seen is infinite stratos, which is a bit crap.

Fractale seems to be the only new show worth bothering with this season. Its a little bit Ghibli-esque and I enjoyed the first two episodes.

Its not a complete right off of a season for new stuff, enjoyable shows in Madoka, Fractale, Wandering Son and Level E, and we got index/Knt/mitsudomoe sequels.

i think the only long term showim still wathcing is one piece, just got done watching ep482-484 , good god ep483 was sad, reminded of the other great animated bits of one piece(Robin saying she wanted to live, Nami flashback/begging Luffy for help etc, etc) and 484 had whitebeard going ****in nuts. Dropped Bleach along time ago, and stopped naruto just as the current fillers started months ago and i haven't bothered reading either manga's, spoilers in random forums are enough for me such is the ****ty state of naruto/bleach.

Which leaves time to watch decent to bad shows like zombie, Freezing and IS. Though i can't stomach Dragon crisis, 3eps of total rubbish so it got dropped and freezing getting closer to the drop zone with yet another fanny in the main guy role annoying me.

I used to watch 4-5 shows each season, now it's just bleach, and playing catch up with naruto and one piece.
