GUBBINS: I assume you were the seller & lost the £500 due to dodgy buyers yes?
Also, I asume that u must have taken all of your cash out of your account & because a previous payment was found to be fraudulent at a later date they tried to freeze the amount in your account only to find nowt, so they expected u to pay up yes?

think this is the reason why so many clear out their account so quicklyOriginally posted by Tommy Verceti View PostThis happened to me twice in December & in both times I only sent the item by regular non tracked postage, so I was ****ed (& ?60 out of pocket). If u didnt send the item using a trackable method so u can prove to PP that u sent it then u are knackered unless the buyer sorts it out at his end, which he probably wont because he's just got summat worth ?200 for free & will just re-register with eBay/PP using different details.
PP are way too slow in picking up on these things. If a buyer uses another persons Card then the transaction should be cancelled as soon as the payment is made. I'm sure theres a way of doing this.
Welcome to the real eBay/Paypal!!
I sent the item through International Signed for. So I can prove the address it was sent to and even more ridiculous, the address is the same in the paypal and ebay account. It's obviously a scam.
I emailed the paypal account and the holder replied saying their account was broken into.
What does this mean? I could go on a spending spree on ebay, receive the items, then claim my account was hacked into!? And get a refund?
Its ridiculous, the buyers ebay account shows they've bought two other ipods, a pair 0f $800 Roberto Cavalli boots and Gucci sunglasses.

Originally posted by Gubbins View PostYeah I was the seller, and Paypal took the funds off me about a month later after I had withdrawn it all, so right now my account is around negative ?500, but they can't do f*ck all as they're not a bank, so it's not classed as 'debt', and I've closed any card details I have with them. I've researched a bit into the procedures of what they'll do next and apparently they sell the 'debt' to some company who then says you can pay 75% off and they'll write it off, or they'll hassle you for a few weeks and then leave you alone.

a chap over at RLLMUK just closed his account with ?800 in the red and a few months later a baillif was at his door with a final demand for the money
he is now paying it up over a monthly basis
but paypal is a great service if you deal with honest people, its just crap if you deal with dodgy fekkers

sega dreamcast president edition
no disrespect to Aadil but i just love this description:
You are bidding on a Limited Edition Japanese Sega Dreamcast Console.
Review
This is the Sega President Edition and as far as i'm aware was only available through limited distribution.
that story sounds better than the truth, which was its a first generation release console - nothing speical about it whatsoever apart from its one of the oldest DC around probably

i'm sure paypal have legal teams working to make sure they get the money back
it might take some time - but they seem to have a little more power than you think

Buying from eBay & paying by PP from sellers outside the UK
Okay so if sellers like me are being punished here in the UK for offering a non insured form of postage when things go tits up then does this also apply to sellers elsewhere?
I ask because i just bought something from a USA eBay seller & paid by PP, during which I could opt in/out of insurance. I decided to opt out because stuff has arrived with no probs in the past.
But if summat goes wrong & the seller says "tough **** u didnt take out insurance", then can I file a dispute & get my money back?
