I guess there's just as much risk with sending my Border Down to Austria (although i can send items their by Airsure)
Really wishing now i'd listed as shipping to the UK only now
to be fair pal - you are breaking eBay rules by breaking that binding contract and he will ahve every right to neg you

I've recently sold stuff all over Europe and touch wood its been fine and a few have been sent to Italy with no problems

they were not near the value of your item though

aso i dont think Italy can send paypal gifts, it seems to be only within the UK for UK members

Bugger Thing is i'd kinda rather receive negative feedback than get a chargeback for £150! I mean i don't wanna be an arsehole about it, but naturally i do want to protect myself. Worst that'll happen for the other guy is he'll have to bid on another RS, he won't be risking losing out on a chunk of cash or anything.
I really don't know what to do now

Edit - Just messaged the guy again and said paypal payment is ok, but International money order would be preferred and explained my concerns due to the Italian postal service. Hope he understands, in both sense of the word (fair chance he doesn't speak English i guess!). Will see what postal options (EMS etc) my post office has when i go to post it... Feeling less than confident about the whole thing though. Especially with my Border Down heading to Austria too

i was going to have a look at the bidders involved, but you kept everything private

i hate private auctions - seem a little dodgy to me, bid shielding and shill bidding etc etc

not saying thats what happened here but that radiant price is well above normal, so maybe it might be worthwhile avoiding the buyer and taking the neg on the chin, but he might be as honest as you like

surprised that radiant sold more than border down and the trizeal price was quite low

also if for any reason eBay look at your listings i wouldnt have the paypal gift mentioned, as its meant to be a gift and you're circumventing fees and they could take action against you

and to be honest if somebody uses the eBay checkout and you send an invoice it wont even touch the gift system

To be honest i haven't sold much on ebay before, so didn't clock that the private bidding thing would seem dodgy.
          Trizeal's off to Brazil too... i'm screwed aren't i!?

              to be honest pal

out of my last 50 items on eBay around half of them went abroad and it was all fine

              thats just speaking for me

but as soon as the money is in there withdraw it to your bank, just make sure if you decide to post the stuff that you take out adequate insurance for royal mail to chase up if any of them go 'missing'

royal mail dont cover your item once it leaves the country, only within the UK (its a little known fact) i once sent something to the USA via swift air signed for and even though i had the guys signature saying he had recieved it royal mail could do nothing. International ebaying was once pretty safe but its only really advised if you are prepared to take the hit or have done a lot of ebaying in the past or are a graded powerseller or ebay star (which is given out not applied for)

no i'm sure that they can track the parcel within the UK, after that it goes to the overseas post office

but if you take out full insurance, you're entitled to get your money back

it might take longer than usual as royal mail have to seek the costs from the overseas carrier (USPS) but insurance is there for a reason

the fact that the other guy signed for your parcel may have stopped royal mail from paying out the insurance as at the end of the day they have delivered your parcel

if it was untraceable and Royal mail told me unlucky it left the uk and we have washed our hands of it, i wouldnt have stood for that

                          Rage

Paypal may be annoying for sellers, but its great for buyers, amirite?

I thought this too. I've always been a paypal supporter as it's always worked out great for me. On the odd occasion that a transaction goes wrong paypal is quick to provide a refund.

I got stung a while ago on ebay. bought a copy of rhapsody on the ds only to find out it was counterfeit. so i sent it back to hong kong and the seller promised to send a refund once it arrived. After a while of the seller still saying it hadnt arrived I filed a paypal dispute. the dispute was due to run out tomorrow so i escalated to a claim thinking that good ol paypal would have my money back in no time. After all they were choosing between me, a loyal customer and bid4truth, some dodgey hong kong pirate.

But no sooner had i filed the claim than it was resolved against me. Literally as soon as i clicked the button i got an email saying they could not settle in my favour.

I think it was because it was filed under "not as described" rather than it not coming at all. is there anything i can do here or have my eyes been opened to the evils of paypal?

suppose its my bad partially for not checking the sellers location. oh well

                          [/RANT]

My good lady has sold a couple of items on ebay recently and one of the payments was on hold with paypal. From what i read the funds stay locked until you receive positive feedback or a certain time passes with no dispute raised.

The item has been sent, received and positive feedback has been left but still the funds are on hold.

Anyone had a similar experience and is there a time scale from receiving positive feedback until the funds get released.

Did they pay using an e-cheque? Those things are nightmare as they take ages to clear.
