      Right.

      It's 2009.

For the first time ever I registered for ebay today. I know I am out of touch.

Does this mean I need to do paypal as well? Honest truth speaking answers please.

Not really... but you will struggle to pay for most things without PayPal. Heck you can't even buy a lot of things without it. Sad but true.

I suspected as much... Oh well - more online weaknesses to add to my portfolio of unsecure jabbering accounts.

Just a quick question, has anyone ever bought from TotalGamesAndToys before? http://cgi3.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....algamesandtoys

Been looking for a few video game soundtracks for my rather small collection and have noticed they're available in this seller's shop for a fraction of the import price.

They seem like a legit, UK based company with no feedback that I can see relating to fake products. Worth a punt?

Bought a few Initial D soundtracks from them before, spot on, no reason to believe they were fakes anyway.

You sure they're legit and not just very good bootlegs? Do you know how to spot fakes?

All I can say is the 4 soundtracks I have bought from them looked fine to me, didn't notice any dodgy printing, they all had spine cards and the double/triple albums came with the booklets and were all sealed.

Myself I'm not too bothered, fake or not as they were only ever going to get transferred to my ipod anyway but obviously if your a collector then you might want to buy them from somewhere you can guarantee sell the real thing like cdjapan.

Right, so I was bidding on a 500 gig hard drive, and lost. Then I got a legit second chance offer through ebay (my highest bid was like a pound off the final bid or something). So I pay for it. Later I got an email from the seller saying he'd accidentily refunded my money instead of someone elses, so could I pay again. Having waited, the money has reappeared in my paypal account. Thing is, to send him the money again, I will have to do it out of ebay, but still using paypal, since ebay now sees the transaction as paid for and refunded. Do I still have protection if I just make a payment through paypal to his address like this? What do you think? Maybe it's a way for him to avoid ebay fees? His feedback is at 99.2% on 252. Is it safe?

it is but there is a well known 2nd chance offer scam out there
personally with feedback of 99.2 its good but not great - i wouldnt

i would get them to set up a buy it now with your name as the title and the price you offered via immediate payment only - the description to be the same as before, if they are genuine this should not be a problem.

                      hope this helps

I sold summat on ebay to a fella in Spain a few days ago. Sent him an invoice etc.
Got an email today (not directly from ebay) telling me he wishes to pay by Paypal with his friends Paypal account as he doesnt have 1.
He wants me to send it to his address but I know that if I receive the payment it'll be his friends address that pops up on the PP invoice.
Am I covered by PP rules & is he possibly trying to pull a fast one (he has a total of 8 fb all positive btw. Last item he bought was back in Sept 08).

Thanx for any help u can give me.

I'd be wary. I wouldn't do it but you'd have to ask Paypal what the precise legal situation would be if the deal went belly up.

In you situation my own paranoid thoughts would be: if it really is his 'mates' account what would be the problem with sending it to the recognised Paypal account holders address with it marked for buyer but c/o the account holder? If they really are 'mates' what ever their set up he could deliver or send the item on himself and there would be no risk to you at all. Indeed why should you take any risk?

It could well be legit but there are possibilities for this to be dodgy. So, without the express permission of the Paypal account holder I wouldn't send it anywhere other than the address logged there.

Explain your position to the buyer, spin him a line about Paypal not covering you if you sent it somewhere other than the account holders address. If he can't come up with a plausible explanation what the problem would be sending to the account holders address or getting him to confirm directly that the account is being used with his permission I'd step back from the deal.

But that's me with my seller's hat on, suspicious of anything unusual until proven otherwise.

Selling a lot of my more 'valuable' games on Ebay, just sold a limited edition Border Down to a guy in Austria, and just now my Radiant Silvergun to an Italian bidder (with 100% feedback admittedly)...

Now the thing is, i've heard a lot of horror stories about sending items to Italy, buyers sending chargebacks to paypal accounts after claiming not receiving the items and i know some sellers won't ship to Italy. Can anybody give me a bit more info on this, and whether i should be concerned or not? What's the best method to post to Italy, and is their anyway to protect against these chargebacks?

Thanks in advance for any advice

its not the buyers its the italian mail system its atrocious, there is no real way (apart from delivering it yourself) that you can be sure it will arrive, from personal experience i would not send to Greece, Lithuania, Estonia and Italy but you might get lucky, i would go for a premium delivery service if you have to send it like Ems, DHL or Datapost (large post office should offer Datapost and EMS) but its still a risk - the only way to protect against a chargeback is paypal gift or request an international money order as payment as tracking sometimes is not enough for Ebay (i lost 80£ once even though i sent recorded delivery) Good Luck

                                Thanks
I've messaged the buyer stating i will now only accept Paypal payment as a Paypal gift or an International Money Order. I also stated that i would refund any payment made by regular Paypal (and i will not ship the item - if i recieve negative feedback so be it). I don't feel good about it, and probably should've done my research beforehand, but we're talking about £150 and it's just not worth the risk Where do i stand with this?
I guess there's just as much risk with sending my Border Down to Austria (although i can send items there by Airsure)
Really wishing now i'd listed as shipping to the UK only now
