As Bad Bwoy said, i'd meet the guy in person, check the state of the guitar then hand the money over. ?800 is a lot of money to waste.

also, if meeting up, make sure you don't go alone... you could be ?800 lighter in a very short space of time if you're not careful.

MoneyGram is the eBay scammers payment method of choice, followed closely by Western Union. Avoid that auction at all costs, especially at that price - they do it all the time on Amazon.

Thanks for the replies, I thought it was a bit dodgey. Heh don't worry I was never going to send any money anway without playing the guitar first, bah I'm a bit annoyed it's probably a scammer. Must admit, I never thought I'd ever be even slightly fooled by one, but this one is very realistic. He's got millions of pictures of the guitar, took the pictures of where I asked and seems to know alot about the guitar. Anyway, I'll wait till he gets back to me about picking the guitar up in person and paying for it there, if he says no, well then I deffinetly wont be sending any money via anything.

EDIT - look at this! deffinetly a scam! ... I'll email ebay.

          Purchase protection and refund:

Currently, this seller has a US $15,000.00 deposit in an eBay managed purchase protection account.

Transactions with this eBay seller are covered by purchase protection against fraud and description errors. For your safety, this account was locked today, for 90 days time period. The seller is unable to withdraw any money from it, within this period.

Should you need a refund for this transaction, the insured amount will be taken from the seller's purchase protection account and sent to you. The refund is sent to your bank account, or by check or money order. The way you are refunded is at your choice. You have 90 days from the above verification date to request a refund. Refund requests are processed within 3 days.

The account is managed by eBay's SquareTrade center. This transaction is supervised by eBay's SafeHarbor team.

            Scam

There seems to be more and more scammers on Ebay. The only problem is, where else can you buy random junk??

            Glad you didn't get fleeced...

Hahaha, look at this email he just sent me. He must know I was onto him, ah well and darn, I've just missed out on a meal cooked by his wife and a glass of wine! ... Hah he was believable untill then, what's scary is someone is probably going to get scammed by him. He's not saying `this guitar is best guitar ever` he mentioned the flaws, took pictures of them and described them in correct guitar nerd speak!

              Hi again

Hmmm. I am always wary about the quality of someone's written English, especially if they are supposedly from the UK. The email you recieved is either the work of a very ill/dyslexic gentleman, or some evil scam guy who never learned to read and write because they were too busy comitting crimes.

                Harold! Classic name though.

The guy obviously is trying to lead you into a false sense of security. How could you ever not trust a Harold?

Yep, happened to me before if I remember correctly. If I'm not mistaken, this is the dreaded chargeback.
