If you do end up refunding him, make sure ebay refund your listing costs.

I would wait it out personally, if it comes to a dispute then you can bring that up with ebay/PP.

If he waits maybe the guy will bug out of opening a dispute but if he doesn't is the hassle and potential consequences to your sellers rating worth the risk?

Hope this is the right place to ask for a bit of advice...

I bought some magazines from a US eBay seller (100% feedback) that I've been using for many months now & has always helped with any queries & done their best to help me out. Their packages have always arrived within 10 days of posting from the US until this last one.

It was shipped on 6th October from the US but has yet to arrive. Is there any chance that it got caught up in the postal strikes of late? I emailed the seller on the 21st October advising that I couldn't leave any feedback yet as they hadn't arrived & the reply was "ok, thanks."

I want to keep buying from this seller so I'm hesitant to open a dispute. Do I take the loss (?25) & move on or open a dispute? What would anyone else do in my situation? Cheers guys.

I had one game held up, apparently, by UK Customs for weeks. I was told when the item was posted in Canada, confirmed by the receipt etc when I received it. Even once C&I contacted me and I'd paid the extortionate duty and presentation fees it still took another week to arrive. Total time - just under 5 weeks from date of order.

I don't think you should worry too much at present, particularly with the post situation being as bad as it is. You've done the right thing telling the seller now and putting it on record. The cut-off period for Paypal disputes may mean if it still hasn't arrived you may be forced to take that route at some point. I'd warn the seller that you're going to do this and explain why - chances are none of this is their fault.

That will give some breathing space and extra waiting time as long as you're happy to do that.

For now I'd just hope the package arrives before you're forced to take this sort of action.

Before starting a dispute ask the seller to chase it up with with the courier first. He may be eligible for compensation if it doesn't arrive which he should be willing to pass to you. Disputes should only be used if the seller refuses or is non responsive. Running a shop ebay account myself, we've given plenty of refunds and replacement items over the years without the need for a dispute to be raised via ebay. Still, I'd give it more time before taking action and you've done the right thing already by notifying the buyer of non-receipt of items.

Cheers guys, thanks for the advice. Much appreciated indeed. Unfortunately the magazines were sent via USPS Priority Flat Rate Envelope & I think that can't be traced. Fingers crossed though that they'll eventually turn up.

Okay guys the GHWT 'that didnt work' turned up at mine this morning.

I checked the disc & theres some marks on it that definatley werent there when I sold it to him some look like theyre running like slight groove around the disc like its been spun around on a flat surface & lightly scraped it. It also looks like theres a little cleaning been done to it - light little spots.
I popped it in my PS2 & it works fine no problems.

He's probably 1 of these guys that doesnt look after stuff & just lobs his games in the console with no thought, but if I accept this back now then I cant sell it in the same condition as b4. Maybe hes swapped his disc with mine, maybe he's played it to death & is blagging a refund (the old GAME 10 day return policy), or maybe he's telling the truth despite the fact that it works fine.

So what advice can you give me on what to do next?
Should I refund him or what, because I just get the feeling that he's got me by the balls regardless of the fact that there are marks on the disc.

I'm making my first ever attempt to sell via eBay right now, to help me move some of that big lot of Zoids I posted about in the purchases thread.

I've set up one auction as a buy-it-now only, but it's an expensive set of kits so I'm not too hopeful of getting a sale. What puzzles me is that the auction has 5 'watchers'. Why would anyone bother to watch a buy-it-now item?

I was initially hopeful that I might have a potential buyer but now I'm assuming that it's just other traders who are curious to see if the sale gets made or not.

It could be that, although I watch bin items, too, as a quick and easy way to save them for looking at later. It's not unusual for me to just watch a whole bunch of items while I'm gauging prices and stuff.

In other news, I just won a £30 cashback as one of the lucky 500 this week in their promotion (https://www.paypal-marketing.co.uk/c...and/index2.htm)

At first I thought it was a phishing scam until I double-checked. I still trawled through the T&C's just in case. This is Paypal we're talking about, here. Give them an inch...

I have a question about Paypal - I've just finished a non-auction deal with a guy who has agreed to cover the paypal fees for the sale.

I know that when a buyer selects "send money" to initiate the transaction, they are asked if they want to pay the fees. What about if the seller uses "request money" to send a bill to the buyer? Does the buyer still get given this option?

Anyone get the eBay questionnaire asking what you like/dislike about eBay, how much you sell, what would make you sell more often, etc?

I basically said in the last 12 months I've sold over £1,000 worth of stuff on forums and only about £75, and they're all a bunch of ***** for forcing me to use PayPal.

In fact every single box where I could explain myself (for the scenario questions where you're asked if you'd choose to sell on eBay or elsewhere), I basically said I hate PayPal and will never sell an item worth more than £50 until they stop forcing me to use it.

                        Anyone else get this?

If so, get the rant sticks and RANT. Maybe they take notice.

I ****ing HATE using PayPal. What happened to cheques?

                        Comment

Cheques? I think they went to the same place as dial up Internet and French bread pizzas. To be seriouse though I think they are takeing the piss with chargeing you 3 times for the same transaction rubbish. insertion fees, final sale fees then bloody paypal fees. There buisness model seems to be the same as the British goverments tax system.

LOL I'm still on dial-up and still quite often use cheques for paying bills.

But cheques are dying out, the banks clearly hate them and you're now virtually forced to use standing order, direct debit, debit or credit cards in preference to them almost everywhere,

I'm on dial-up broadband. I prefer it since I know my computer isn't online unless I want it to be.

                              And I love cheques.
To me, a cheque is like a bullet in a chamber. It's locked, loaded, and ready to fire, and then when I do fire it, I can sit back knowing only the payload is airborn. With cards and direct debit, I'm relying on the system not to **** up electronically (which for me, it always seems to do, maybe because my surname is 23 letters long). Whereas with a cheque, it's in black and white on a solid state medium: paper.

I had the ebay questionnaire but havent got around to filling it in yet. I too will be voiceing my feelings seeing as they've dicked me around way too much lately. I'm sick of buyers giving me excuses for not paying or after commiting to buy trying a swap instead of PAYING. And I'm sick of sellers ripping me off & the charges that go with selling
