Hmm, well I emailed them and they replied straight away. They say they've contacted PayPal and it'll be sorted in a "day or two."

    I remain sceptical.

This kind of thing is really pissing me off on ebay at the moment. This guys making a fortune selling pirated goods and ebay does nothing. Its even in the featured item part. All it would take is one person a couple of hours to check the featured items listed each day to see who is doing this. Also when the Ebayer is caught doing this why isn't their account banned.

Sony pull out all the stops to stop importers buying their goods but allow ebay to carry this out.

An item I was selling at buy-now ended last night, and buyer payed immediately by paypal.

As a precuation, with all high-value auctions, I tend to check the buyer out before sending goods, so I checked this geezer, and he had registered the same day, no feedback, and wanted me to ship to an unconfirmed address.

So I email the geezer and tell him that Im refunding his money, and will arrange collection as he lives close, and do I get a reply? No.

Now paypal email me and tell me that they have held the funds (lucky I didnt withdraw!), and ebay also email me telling me that he may be acting fraudulently.
Now hes no longer registered (good riddens to the ****).

Enough of me blabbering on, has this happened to anyone else? And how long till it gets cleared up with paypal?

Haha! Sorry to laugh, but this happened to me just last week

Like you I sold something that I had listed as BIN. The buyer paid straight away, then about 3 hours later PayPal took the money back and put it on hold. I emailed the buyer about it who seemed to think PayPal thought she was doing something dodgy because she'd transfered a large amount of money from one account to the other, or something like that.

So I emailed PayPal and eBay about it, and also the buyer, who had by this point been unregistered with eBay... I think this was on Friday. Anyways, after a few back and forth emails PayPal sent me a message yesterday to say they'd refunded the buyer their money and that it wouldn't be going back into my account. To be fair on them, both eBay and PayPal were very helpful with it all, which wasn't what I was expecting.

I'm such a nice guy that I emailed the buyer and told her that even though she wasn't registered anymore she could still have the game if she sent the money a different way, though I'm yet to receive a reply. And if I don't get one by tomorrow I'm relisting it and filing a non-paying bidder report to get my listing fees back.

                  It's probably the same person

the next episode of Trevor McDonald's ITV program is all about fake gear on ebay and how people are bring conned, think from the advert it's mainly aimed at fake deisgner clothing, not sure when it's on.

That link I posted a page or so back with the guy selling 57 pirates PSP games on DVDs made well over ?700 on just that auction and ebay did nothing.

It really does stink and ruins it for people selling genuine goods.

Bloody hell. I should have thought of it. ?700 is ?700. I wonder how much of a market there still is for such games?

As long as ebay are profiting from the sales, I dont think it will stop. Only way, is by Sony themselves, being the copyright holders, contacting eBay and informing them.

Even now, so many sellers are bundling their PSP packages with pirate games to drive the prices up.

I cant understand why Sony would so actively pursue people who are selling genuine Import games but I've heard nothing about any disaproval with this kind of thing on ebay. Afterall Sony will be losing around ?1500 of potential sales for every one of those DVDs sold.

That one guys auction must have been up for quite some time to sell so many copys, so I'm guessing its not a case of it flying under the radar, it really is disgusting.

Suprised eBay can't be shut down under the same laws that shutdown websites like Supanova. Websites like Supanova argue that it could be used for legit filesharing, the user has the freedome to decide what to share, surely the same goes for eBay if they make no effort to remove auctions like these?
