Just sold my preorder for the xbox 360 from Game and the seller has a strange request, what do you all think?
here is the correspondence he has sent me in reguard to this,
"hi mate- my name is **** and i have agreed to buy your xbox 360. I am currently serving in Iraq and am due home on Nov 30th. I have committed to buying it, but PayPal wont authorise me to spend that much money (spent some already i wasnt aware of this when i clicked commit to buy). However, i am so desperate for a 360, and am only back in the country for 2 weeks before going back to Iraq. Could I visit you in and give you -> ?500 <- in cash for the xbox. I am so desperate and NEED one to take back to Iraq with me! I know that this will prove somewhat of a hassle for you, which is why I am paying extra.Dec 1st or 2nd would be perfect if thats ok wit you. Please get back to me by sending an e-mail to ***********@snmail.co.uk on whether or not this would be ok...i am so sorry for the complications, and sorry that i cannot send a cheque because I am in Iraq, but i guarantee that I will pay you ?500 for the xbox 360- i am just a desperate squaddie! lol. Thankyou very much,****"
followed by this email through ebay,
Hi mate- any news on whether the offer I made yesterday is ok? I need to know sooner rather than later if that's ok with you so I can make the necessary arrangements to collect it. Do you like near ********** town centre btw? Many thanks, **** p.s. remember to send any items to *************@snmail.co.uk or ***********@hotmail.com thanks, hope to hear from you soon"
I replied with this,
"Hi ****
I've only just checked my emails, and noticed that you have bought the the xbox 360 premium pack I advertised for sale on ebay.
I am prepared to accept a cheque or Postal order in payment for this item if paypal is inconvenient for you, and will, post the xbox 360 using Royal Mail special delivery so it should reach you by Monday 5th Dec, although it may arrive by the next day, depending on the mail system.
I'm not willing to deal outside of the bounds of the ebay auction, so am unwilling to meet up with you in ********* town,
I realise you have stated the difficulties you face with being a squaddie, but I can't budge on this.
Let me know what you intend to do
kind reguards"
anyway I am quite perplexed by this whole situation, as the seller fees for this item are quite significant owning to the "buy it now" price I had listed the 360 for on ebay, which I will incur if this guy doesn't complete the purchase.
Am I right to have suspicions about this seller, as he only has feedback of 1, and I can't see from his correspondance why he can't just go through the payment and postage methods listed in my auction, with the delivery listed as by Royal Mail special delivery.
