Big grats to Lewis - I'm glad he won, it was a bit scrappy and although an exciting finish, it wasn't exactly polished. I think Mclaren went a bit too conservative and they nearly payed the penalty, which would have been ridiculous on Lewis.

Feel a bit for Massa, he showed a lot of class despite coming second, I don't think we'd have seen that from Hamilton.

I'm not so sure Massa will get another chance at it either - Raikkonen is a better driver in my opinion, and although he's been off the boil this season, I expect him to be at the sharp end next season.

I'd imagine there are a lot of young kids out there itching to get out on a go kart track in the very near future, and that's great news. Although on saying that it is incredibly hard to achieve anything at grass roots level unless you have the required funding.

But as Lewis has proven, a kid can be picked up at a young age and developed into a fantastic driver, manufactured even. I think we'll see a lot more teams following Mclaren's lead on this.

It's also ironic that ITV had to wait for the last race of its era to crown a British champ.

Anyway, well done to Lewis. I just hope he and the media calms down a bit now, as we know he can do it.

Anyway, F1 needs Alonso fighting it out with Hamilton as he is the only one that can stop a silver wash, in my opinion. I want to see LH win it by obliterating the field, MS of FA style. Clinch it before the season finale, without the drama and cock ups here and there. If he can do that, he will earn my respect. Not that he needs it of course

And Toyota, you are very welcome...

And Ferrari won the constructors championship but noone mentioned that

Nice one Lewis I congratulate you yet again for being a surley little sod. ITV promotes you for 2yrs bigs you up makes it the Lewis Hamilton Show and you kindly repay them by not speaking to em when you win the chamipionship pml He needs a drink wtf? If only you where as gracious as Hill and Mansell. Absolutley disgusted with him and you could see the look on the faces of ITV as they just didnt know what to do. I would have been even a smidge proud of him for our country if he had acted better than that.

Gutted for Coulthard maybe they should have had a big dedication to him at the end to fill in for the missing Lewis?

Massa was great sad to see he didnt win drivers championship.

Glock I leave that one out in the domain we will never know if he did slow down or not but he was mighty fine up to the previous corner even with his slicks and held em off no problem. Id rather Hamilton have won under better circumstances.

I got the impression lewis wanted to speak to itv but he was mobbed by all the other reporters. It was impossible for him to speak to ted.

According to the BBC website McLaren were confident that Hamilton would pass Glock before the end of the final lap. They just had to wait and see it panned out that way.

As the final couple of bends are pretty flowing, I'm still surprised Glock struggled so badly on them.

            Comment

Yep the last two bends are a sweeper their is little room for having to back off or steering correction I mean you use the last bend to build up to full pelt. It happened put it down to bad weather but as I said Id rather have seen Lewis win out right than something like that.

Regarding press at end you saw his dad literally grab hold of him and shout stop to him as he just wanted to go into the pits with all the cameras around him then Lewis uttered something at one on his back left like he was going to deck him whem he stopped. Sky shoved a mic at him and Ted said to him ITV and then you heard someone else shout at him Lewis ITV. He asked him fine and he hardly reacted and then his dad said he needs a drink and whisked him off pml Their was nobody jostling then he could have talked quite happily but he didnt he did one instead.

Then you had poor Ryder outside Mclarens pits and he never got to speak to him again. For me that was a poor show compared to how other drivers react when they win. Part of their job is to talk to the press especially how ITV have been with him. Whether he likes it or not the entire world is watching him and he should be gracious enough to give the press 1min of his time. I mean the bloke had plenty of time on his hands as he wasnt needed for presentation for top 3.

I mean who can forget Murray and Mansell when he won

                Absolute garbage.

He was being battered and pushed by the press, straight after a long hard race. The press yet again shoot themselves in the foot with their pack mentality pushing and shoving. It is the press that need to get some respect, not the other way around.

                Comment

They always go around in packs its the nature of the sport they all get mobbed at the end of a championship. Have you not seen how Schummy, Senna Mansel and so on have got mobbed when they won their championships they delt with it fine. He chose not to speak to them.

The press were being ridiculous. Completely unorganised and a little unsafe to be honest. He did the right thing. We can watch him talk about it all another time. The GP was one of the best I have ever seen. Lewis is the deserved Champion. If you think he didn't win it fairly, strip Massa of the 11pts he has been handed recently, and there's no contest. Lewis is better.

And all the times this year Massas car broke would also flip it, its if and buts with all that same with the penaltys. If you put it down to the end of the season and the race itself Massa outshone him and Lewis was gifted the championship he didnt earn it on the day.

If you want to see abit of humility Lewis this is how you do it when you win the championship. I give you the legendary Mansell who wins the world championship gets undressed changed and straight after sits down with Murray instead of telling the press to do one.

You can see how much he got mobbed at end of it as well so a few reporters is nowt on this one.

Well, if ITV didn't have so many adverts, maybe the could dedicate an extra half hour to interview the new world champion, whomever that might have been??

Massa did not outshine Lewis. Not at all. Massa was gifted with dubious points throughout the closing stages of the championship. Lewis is a better driver, whatever his personality is like, he is a better driver. He is the best in the world now, officially, so anything you say is only an opinion.

In my mind Alonso is better than Massa, though I dislike Alonso. Raikonnen is much better than Massa in my opinion. Again, opinion. The fact of the matter is, Lewis won the World Championship by being the best driver over this entire year.

The media mob was ridiculous, and ITV should have had a room prepared for the interview. I am sure Lewis would have loved to have told everyone about it. He tried to speak to Louise Goodman (idiot though she is) and the poor cameraman could hardly see Lewis due to the rest of the press... THAT was the problem.

Oh, get over it. He was being scrummed by press as he was making his way back to the garage. Can't really compare it to the mansell situation. He was clearly totally blown away by what just happened and wanted to get back to the garage to compose himself first. He did speak to the press once he got back. Can't really believe some of the critical straw clutching, he's not perfect but god damn... Anything to try and degrade what he's achieved in the last couple of years.

Singapore and Hungary and the dreadful reliability of his car first two races of the year cost Massa hugely. Whereas Hamilton finished every racef except a memorable one.

I agree about the press, it was way over the top.

How do you make it 11 points that Massa was gifted btw?
