"my fellow itv.com/f1 columnist Ted Kravitz – who I think I may have met in the Formula 1 paddock at some point, although I’d have to check"

At least they didn't pick Chiles but I'm not overly keen on Jake Humphrey.

Personally I think this is a terrible idea. It's based on the assumption that every car on the grid has an equal chance of winning the race, which just isn't true. Drivers for teams like Force India will literally have nothing to race for, because they were previously aiming for a finish in the top 8.
This system works for the Olympics because it only happens once every 4 years - an F1 season is every year. The points system is a fair reflection of a driver's standing over the course of a season. With this new system, someone could win 3 races and finish last in every other race, but would finish above someone who has won once but finished second in EVERY other race. It makes no sense!
Going by these new rules, Hamilton wouldn't have won the championship this season - thanks to losing that Spa win for overtaking. Bonkers.Last edited by Duddyroar; 26-11-2008, 10:24.

That's what he wants, the champion to be the winner of the most races. It's a ridiculously simple solution for an extremely complex sport. He's losing his mind, it seems.Last edited by Richard.John; 26-11-2008, 10:31.

It's a joke and the FIA should laugh it down. The trouble is, as he is the promoter, he usually gets his way. God forbid we seem them collecting gold, silver and bronze next year. A ****ing travesty.
I might even consider the unthinkable. For the first time in 25 years, I might not bother to watch F1 if he turns it into a circus.Last edited by Richard.John; 26-11-2008, 10:38.

In that case let's reverse the grid then. F1 is bigger than Bernie and he shouldn't forget it. The sport has been in existence since 1950 and has never needed such rubbish so why now? If you want close races, just turn it into a one make series. Knee jerk reactions just result in a good kick in the bollocks for the sport. This requires more thought and his pushing it for '09 is absurd.
