This race promises to be a snoozefest, then!

Quality race. You know it's going to be good when 2 laps in the commentator says, "Of course, you can't really overtake at this circuit." I actually started doing some ironing in the closing stages for some entertainment. There wasn't even a big crash at the start for chrissakes.

It's all bad when a puncture is the best thing that happens.

Catalunya is a good circuit for the bikes, but it's a little too technical for F1. Too hard on the car, and no leeway for outbraking anyone.

Monaco is worse for that of course, but will at least have the added attraction of it being a new experience for a lot of the drivers and teams. It's always fun to see the rookies mess up at Monaco.

Wonder how much more of this the sport can take.

It's getting to the stage where the qualifying and the first lap are the only times with exciting racing going on. You don't even get as much drama with the pit stops now.

Not every race this year has been like the one we've just had though. They need to be a bit more selective about the tracks they use.

All the other ways to change the racing to be closer will ultimately end up slowing the cars down, and while that might lead to better racing, it's hard to call yourself the top formula if the cars in the DTM or GP2 are faster...

Maybe what's needed is to loosen the regulations a lot more, let people do crazy outlandish things like the days of the 6 wheelers and the ones with the big fans on the bottom.

Or maybe the 'history of motorsport' book that came with Stunt Car Racer (which went past present day and into the future) will come true and we'll see them all driving V8 turbocharged dune buggies around raised courses...

I didn't think the race was too bad. Certainly better than I was expecting from Barca anyway. A mile ahead of Bahrain.

Totally agree. I think people are getting unrealistic expectations of what to expect from F1 now. They do need to get rid of the double diffusers and fussy front wings though.

Some (any) overtaking is an unrealistic expectation?

For F1? Yes. It's just not what this particular formula is about anymore. Its about building the fastest car and having a driver who can make it faster still...

This race was proof that the refuelling ban has made things worse. Seems we'll have to hope for a lot of bad weather for the rest of the season.

The massive amount of traffic stopping some of the smaller teams get a shot at making it into Q2 doesn't bode well for the main race.

Great stuff from Kubica, shame he didn't get pole. Should be another snoozefest tomorrow but I imagine plenty of people will be stacking it into the barriers.
