Business as usual. Bodyweight decreasing, poundages lifted on the up. Should be down to 75 kgs soon and approaching 150kg on the squat. Yippee!

Recently shoulder pressed the 42 kg dumbells for 5 reps whilst sitting down and dipped for 12 reps with 30kgs strapped to my waist!

Im still concentrating on drinking 2l of water each day, whilst visiting the gym 3 times a week and playing badminton at the weekend.

Im looking to start football up again on Sundays, for some reason though, whereas I used to never miss it, Ive found Ive kept on skipping it over the last few months.

Im around 86kg or so (6ft 2"), pretty pleased with my progress although keeping motivated and the effort it takes is hard. Back to the gym again at lunchtime.

I went to the gym once. I guess I'm not a gym person

swifty, most people aren't. What do you like doing? Gardening? Walking? Rock climbing? There's so much stuff out there to do instead of the gym. Even a home workout is workable. We're here to help with ideas.

I can't remember the last time I didn't ache a little somewhere, and that's since new year. The problem that both me and some of the other new students get is that we tend to tweak or injur stuff because we put a lot of effort into it. I've had my stomach muscles so badly pulled I coudn't get out of bed, damaged tendons in both my forearms, pulled a muscle at the top of my thigh/pelvis, tweaked my shin (over rotating with my foot facing the wrong way) - and that's on top of the usual muscular ache (the good one that lets you know you've actually worked ).

Despite all this, my fitness and strength are noticably better. Before I started push-ups were a total nightmare to me, but now I quite often do 40-80 during a normal lesson (same with sit-ups). Granted, not spectacular, but I'm happy . I have flexibility increases in orders of magnitude compared to 2 months ago, and I can't wait for each session to come around - despite the fact I know it's going to kill me. I've also dug the dance mats out again and use that for CV/lower leg workouts.

I've not been tracking my weight, which is perhaps an oversight given I am well overweight, I'm more concerned with my shape. People who know me say I'm changing shape and my Dobok is a little looser each time I train I'm quite happy with the slow-steady progress, any faster and the hypochondriac in me would have dreamed up all kinds of lovely diseases.

Yeah, I gave this some thought a while back and I used to BMX a hell of a lot in my teens, we had a track in our town where I used to race and would pretty much be out on my Diamondback every night. Couple of years back I went down to a bike shop in Elephant & Castle in the hope of picking up where I'd left off and was shocked at how small BMX bikes are - or how tall I am now. That knocked some of the enthusiasm out of me (I understand you can get larger more reinforced BMXs but they cost duckets >_<). Anyways, when I was living in Clapham near the common I thought it would be a perfect time to look into getting a mountain bike - ended up settling for my sisters old piece of crap which had faulty breaks. Took it out a couple of times but just didn't trust it enough to push it, plus its a girls bike!!!

Maybe this year its time to spend a bit of money and do it right (plus I'm getting my Girlfriend Roller Blades for her birthday this weekend so could go out to the park with her - I used to rollerskate alot too but bit too old for that now).

Anybody in the Keep Fit Club cycle? Any tips on where I should start?

Crisp is the main man for bikes (see bottom of previous page). I've been really slack last year. Turning into a fair weather biker...

?300 can get you a decent bike with front suspension these days, although you will need to spend a few quid (50?) on decent tools to avoid having to pay a shop to maintain it.

?300? I better get saving then

What's recommended on the bike front? I could do with a new one, not actually riding for a few years like. I had a mountain bike from Halfords before, a decent enough bike that lasted my ages but has now rusted into this little pile of, erm, rust. I didn't want something like this as it'll mostly be used on the road. That just seems clunky, I ain't gonna ride down a mountain. Those folk are crazy Something like this would be better, right? I might sign up for one of these crazy milage efforts like London to Bradford or something.

Obviously not those but something similar, about ?300 from the local bike shop.

Anyway, not done anything since last Monday. Barely over a cold, I'm gonna jump straight back into a circuits class today and see if I can sweat it out of me. Mental. Got Reading half marathon in April

Yeah the second one looks like a hybrid. MTB frame but road gear like wheels, tyres and chainset. Great on the road compared to a proper MTB. ?300 should get you something similar. Depends on comfort and type of riding wether to get a hybrid or a real road bike. Road bikes are much less manouverable.

Oh and you don't really need front sus if you literally are only ever going to be on roads. If the roads are as bad as Brighton or you want to go down the local fire roads though front sus wont hurt but will increase the weight of the bike a bit and make it a little more effort to pedal (although not much if the forks are decent and /or short travel).

Ah, excellent. London to Brighton is that race that's coming up although not everyone races, naturally (I didn't intend to, just a nice day out). I was undecided on suspension, to be honest, as the bike would be used 'generally' too, maybe around the local parks and stuff riding with the family. Nothing too bad, mostly nature walking paths rather than an off-beat muddy track

That second one is almost identical to the bike I saw on the weekend in the local shop. Aces.

Had a tough work out yesterday, bit low on energy. But jus as i was lagging........... there she stood with that ass again! It really does deserve a knighthood! Damn i got like my second wind and then some! I worked so damn hard, im so sore today! Man has that personal trainer got some skills! I should really get in there shouldnt i? Hmmm...........

think she will mind if i bite that peachy bum of hers?

yeah so i did 3 sets slowley as reccomended and jus about managed the 3 sets, my arms were burning as i did concentration curls, im only lifting light weights as i want to get toned as opposed to bulking up. But boy is it hard, as i have to extend my arm out at the end of each rep.

Also did extra minutes on my cardio sesh. I feel a bit better for it and i sweated a lot more which helps.

I have a question though, everytime i do an abbs sesh, at the ned of the night i get stomach pains and need to go the toilet. Is this right?

Went over to the gym for some pre-killer running, just a light jog... 30-40 minutes but the fella who runs the gym collared me for spinning. Man, 45 minutes. Burnt 702 calories. Raw.

Got a 10k on Wednesday lunch time. Right back in, push it for Reading.
