Excellent effort, bet it feels great when not only people say you look good but you can see the difference and feel it as well

Thanks It does feel good that people can see the difference (rather than me just saying I've lost weight, people KNOW I've lost weight when they see me)

There's a bit more good news from me as I've lost another few pounds in the last week. One of the personal trainers at the gym (who has helped me lose a lot of weight) said I'll be August Member Of The Month because I've done so well

well after having a shock at the docs a few weeks ago i've joined the gym and started to eat healthy now.
so far i'm just getting into it all, eating well and going the gym getting used to doing it instead of doing nothing and eating crap.

so far i've been on the scales 3times since i've started here is my results-

        107.3KG- 16th aug- 2nd time at gym
        106.3KG-23rd aug
105.9KG-2nd sep- didn't go last week as i was away(tried to eat good food but a couple of burgers and beer got in while away so i'm happy that i lost anything this week)

now when i go the gym i start with a 10min run where i do about 1.5KM(getting much easier to do this now)
then some situps with a 5KG weight on the thing.

        then some different arms/leg things.
can do 105kg on the leg press now but even that seems quite easy, its the upper body i need more work on.

i'm going to start doing a longer run now that i've been doing the 1.5km run for a few weeks, i'm thinking upping it to 2-2.5km

and also this week i'm going to start going on my bike to the gym which is around 4.5miles so 9miles each time(its all mainly flat though so not gonna be that hard to do)

hope to get under 100KG by middle of october.

Due to lack of forethought I'm currentl umming and ahhing over accommodation for the GNR. Even basic is going to cost me something absolutely ridiculous, so if anyone knows anyone in the Newcastle area I could stay with for the night they'd be owed a pint or three! Cheers.

Congratulations That echoes what I've done really, and there's quite a few comparisons between us. All I can suggest is keep setting yourself goals (perhaps losing 1lb per week, on average, for a month) but don't let yourself get upset if your weight goes up unexpectedly. Mine keeps going up and my first thought is because I'm gaining weight/fat. But it's not...it's because I'm gaining muscle and that's what is making my weight go up every week or so

I'm now down to about 100kg but it's hovering around that area (can be as low as 99.5kg or as high as 101kg depending on the time of day!). I've just done two massive sessions at the gym yesterday and today - about 2 1/2 hours each and, at a guess, I've probably burned off 2000 calories in two days. I'm absolutely shattered but I feel better in some strange and twisted way

              Oh lordy, this thread again.

Over a very lazy summer plus having a bad back, I managed to increase in weight to 14st 10lbs. About 95kg in new money.

This is not cool as my pencil neck means I have to buy small shirts which now look quite tight, especially across the moobs.

So I've started a new job that has a gym in the building and over the last 2 weeks I have been about 7 times.

I'll be going at lunch today to make it 4 in a row.

I only get an hour so I usually do 15-20 mins cardio (bike and cross-trainer) then one of four weights programmes.

Today, I'm giving the weights a rest as I've done 3 heavy days in a row and I'm quite tired, so I will just do 30 mins cardio today.

On top of that I've cycled to work 5 days in 2 weeks. Which is 4 miles each day.

And..... I've cut down on the booze considerably. Still have at least a beer a night though.

So far, I've lost 2 pounds and am closing in on 14st 7lbs. Hopefully today.

I will get under 14st or else.

Nice work mate, keep it up!!

I've been trying really hard to keep myself in shape but I find the whole eating bit so difficult! I don't eat hardly any crap food, but I know I don't eat as well as I should, because I just don't where to start!

I feel I need to lose weight - standing around 5'7 and clocking in around 11 Stone 10, but some of you might disagree lol! Either way I know I need to tone up exercise more but with my previous back injury heavy weights is off the menu, so I need something that doesn't put strain on my back! I walk alot and have an exercise bike, and do some resistance training (carefully!) for upper body strength which is working, but I just feel my stumbling block is diet....

Diet is further complicated by having Crohns which means some of the good stuff I should be eating doesn't really agree.... Any suggestions?

Quote of the thread right there

I've been very well behaved lately. Swimming every other day and am mixing in weights and running too. Going quite well to be honest.

I did the gym at lunch today but after my last post I really fancied a run so just had a short one. Hurt like hell to be honest as I had a monster session at lunch. Still I made it and feel pretty damn good now

                        My weekend activity.

                        Comment

Now 3 weeks into the new regime and I've been to the gym 4 times this week, 6 times last week!

I am starting to trim up actually, less flab around the gut and shaping of the pecs but I have lost a grand total of 1lb.

I know this is probably to do with muscle replacing fat, but I expected a bit more weight loss to be honest. I might have to have a word with Mr. Gym to see what I can do now.

I don't want to end up as a beefcake.

I had that problem too. It's water retention and your body holding onto more than it should. Over time your body will adjust and you'll lose weight faster than you are doing now. When I started the gym it was taking about 10 days to notice I'd lost 1lb of weight...now I'm losing that in 2-3 days

Just been diagnosed with 'borderline' high bp.

                              42 yrs last week.

                              Don't each much salt.

Don't drink that much alcohol really (these days just seems to trigger headaches that hang about for days on end ).

14.5 stone (been the same for years).

Guess excersise is my best bet, but there's no way the gym is an option between work and 4 kids.

Running's out cause my knees are f_ _ked!

Thought mabye a stepping machine or something for use at home (in front of the tv ) .

                              Any recommendations?

I'm in a similar situation Mark.

My high BP figure is a little high, but my low is fine and my heart rate is about 57 at rest so that's fine.

I'm very lucky to have a gym at my place of work. Is this an option for you? Perhaps a hotel gym or somewhere nearby..... Your employers might be sympathetic.
