Drinking lots of water would be fine if you didnt have to contend with wanting to goto the loo every 20 mins..

Spags, as others have said, there's not enough food there mate! And also a lack of protein, please go back and re-read what I wrote mate. It may be a struggle eating at first, but you'll get the hang of it

Mr Oops has the right idea, take that as a template.

I think Ish must have worms the amount he eats

And water is important. I aim for 4-5 ltrs a day, but include my protein shakes in that as I have water not milk. And Marcus is right about the regular need to piss

          Not too different to me:

          10am: 1.5 litre water
2pm: Chicken salad ciabatta, pressed crapple juice (carrot, apple, ginger)
          4pm: 1 litre tropicana orange
          9pm: Muesli with semi-skimmed milk

Sometimes I'll do a mile swim around 7pm in which case I move the juice to afterwards. And the above is not true every day... sometimes more, sometimes less.

For last few weeks i've been having somthing like:

Breakfast - Bowl of cereal with semi skimmed milk

Mid Morning - Breakfast bar and a banana

Dinner - Just sandwiches and an orange

            Mid Aftertoon - Yoghurt

Tea (that's right tea not dinner ) - Tonight was chilli an rice, last night was a sausage an peppers in a tomatoey sauce with potatoes.

Not really enough i'm thinking so i'm adding 2 protein drinks into that as well.

Roost you need to get the protein shakes man, as with a lot of the others in this thread, most of your meals lack a protein source.

Protein guys PROTEIN! You need more chicken!! Every meal should contain protein, you'll feel a lot better and perform a lot better; and soon enough you'll look a lot better as well.

I appreciate it's hard, but the payoff is well worth it.

Whether you're looking to gain muscle or just lose fat, the protein will help.

And you live on that? Do yourself a favour and count the calories in that. I daren't think how low it is. And then you swim a mile? Mate your energy must be low.

The only protein there is the chicken, and a little in the milk.

The Tropicana will be mainly sugar.

Are you drinking 1.5l in the morning to fill you up so it aids fat loss? That's the wrong way to go about it. Get a breakfast, if you're still hungry you can add some additional fibre in to a protein shake that will fill you up.

Actually I don't think I've mentioned it before in this thread. Fibre is great! It'll expand in your stomach and help fill you out, while slowing down digestion thus helping to avoid insulin spikes. You can get a product called Psyllium Husks, put a spoon in a protein shake - but not in the morning and CERTAINLY not after the gym; it's great at night in your last shake though. Plus it'll help all that protein pass through you

I've read fibre can mess up absorption of vitamin C so don't take at the same time as your daily pill(s).

Too true, I'm up and down to the toilet like a yoyo these days, so annoying!

Think my weight is going up again ever so slightly, after a total freeze on the increase before, its coming on again so I'll see how it goes over the next week and I'm going to be totally hammering the gym and food.

Hope you like it, please let us know! I really think the taste is as good as protein shakes get.

Excellent Please post your weekly increases and how you think you're doing, it's great to hear people taking it seriously and getting fitter.

My weight is a bit of mystery. Despite having low carbs, I've just gained 2kg in a week I did go a little overboard eating this weekend, my brother was down and I ate a couple of times, big hearty meals. Yet today, my bodyfat has dropped a little and my weight increased noticeably.

I think the carb restriction in the week, followed by the big carb increase on the weekend, may have triggered a nice anabolic effect in me and that's the increase in weight. Gaining over 2kg of muscle in a week is ridiculous, but that's what's happened. I may try to follow the same pattern this week and see what happens, could be on to something here

Well as I've said before I'm a distance guy, not a muscle/weight guy, so my aims are different. I can do a mile in 30 mins which is pretty good, though I need to work on the length of my stroke.

Even if I don't eat any breakfast I don't get hungry until about 2pm. The water is there just to keep me hydrated as I have no reason to lose weight (BMI=20). My body doesn't seem to need a high calorie count.

Having said that I do know that I'd be better off with breakfast, mixing that tropicana with water, and eating pasta for lunch... all of which I sometimes do. I'm not saying my diet is good, just that I seem to manage.

Think of me as a sports car. I look great but don't do many miles to the gallon. Cough.

For all you guys struggling with protein intake, this was my diet yesterday, and it's fairly typical for me:

Breakfast - Oats mixed with Protein Powder (made with water) and a banana

Mid Morning - Protein Bar (Normally have a wholemeal bagel with Peanut Butter, but didn't have time to make it yesterday)

Lunch - Spinach Omelette (Made with 5 egg whites, One whole egg & handful of spinach) and an apple

Mid Afternoon - Met-Rx MRP (Protein Drink) and erm, 2 refresher chews

Tea - Wholemeal Pasta, mixed vegetables, 1 turkey breast & pasta sauce

                              Night - Glass of sk.milk

I don't actually class that as being particularly high in protein either, if i was trying to add muscle, I would be eating more

                                I'm hearing you all

Since I have been weighing myself I had been loosing 2 pounds a day - which was starting to worry me a little but this morning I haven't dropped any more and seem to have stopped at 17 stone.

Got the gym today so gonna have a jacket potato with chicken and cottage cheese for lunch and grilled steak with new potatoes and veg for tea - my energy levels have been pretty low lately so need to tweak the diet or I'll never manage the gym >_<

I drink water at work and a glass of milk before I go to bed. Although on a gym day I will have a Lucozade Energy drink around 9.00AM Although the bottle states it only has TRACE Protein Anybody recommend a better morning drink? Chain - don't say Protein Shake
