Er yeah. That looked bad....
Meanwhile, I checked my heartrate monitor - averaged 188bpm for the 43min race... is that even possible at my age or is is broken (the monitor, not my heart). It was definitely hooked in to the right chest strap. Adrenaline raises the heartrate, but er.... every time I looked at it, it said between 185 and 195.

Beautiful!
I tried to do this 7 years ago and ended up like most of themMy friends video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mpmv0Tdppnc is probably the best tutorial but a bit swift, i'd have 2 spotters tbh and try like that?
I found the hardest part after not being to scared to perform the leap of self faith, was to stop laughing and concentrate on not smashing my face in

It also depends a lot on the "you" factor, my heart rate is a lot lower than one of my training partners. My resting rate is 50 at the moment and his is usually around 10 more than me pretty consistently when running.

Well all my sprinting, push ups and sit ups have been slightly wasted, ARMY have turned down my application a day before my first physical day test on medical grounds as i have bad knees. Feel slightly deflated but im back to my 5 mile a night runs and slightly less sit ups and push ups.
Guna start looking at some fun runs and marathons now to give me more goals to achieve.

Went for another 10k run. Felt like I was taking it steady for most of the way around, but still managed it in 43 mins (only 1 min slower than my race a few weeks ago) and I could still walk afterwards (actually legs feel fine). Things are improving! Next stop 40 mins.Last edited by charlesr; 02-03-2010, 18:49.

I've not posted in here for ages but I've been doing really well
Weight is right back down - now at 80kg (6ft tall), knees are no longer causing me problems, my overall strength and balance is vastly improved and generally its going great. Been doing a combination of weights and cardio (mostly interval training which I love - such a buzz).
charlesr - was poking round that site you linked to. Some of that stuff, including the one you're doing, looks seriously challenging! Good luck
