Of those three I think running is the best option for quick weight loss. And as you say, there's no real need to diet as such - just eat sensibly. That's all I've done over the last four years or so and I've naturally lost a fair bit of weight (I'd say around 3 stone at a guess, maybe more).

What do you mean by "quickly"?
If you mean over 2 weeks, the only way of doing it vaguely safely, is via "detox" diet. (shakes + 1 meal and very light exercise). PM me for more details.

If you mean over 2 months, then you could do it via a more easy going but controlled diet that still allows you to exercise properly. You'll need to allow rest days and also do shorter speedwork/intervals rather than just 1hr slogs (to help build strength), and then once you are nearing your goal, start on some weights if possible to ensure it stays off when you get back to normal life.

The easiest part is giving up, so anything you can do to keep yourself on track, like a 7 day plan and A4 sheets on the wall (your choice of motivational comment) next to your bed to remind you into the right frame of mind from the moment you wake up.

You'll need to do a one-off calorie count of a day's worth of normal food to find out if you are eating enough or too much and then factor in your day's exercise e.g. 600cal for an hour, 300 for half.

I want to lose it over the next 2 months.

My calorie count is not too high bar the odd day splurging on KFC or a couple of pints

Typically my intake of food is not too bad (less than 1500 cals):

4 x coffee (White Americanos) - no sugar
Lunch - sushi or sandwich = approx 300-600 cals
          500ml Bottle soft drink
          Dinner can be anything

I don't eat brekkie and I don't snack too much although I do like sausage rolls and Revels

The biggest problem is that my job is desk based and I am sat down a lot - hence wanting to make use of the gym downstairs.

Anyway, I've got root canal procedure coming soon so that will help

            You need to eat more.

No breakfast and that you are eating means you body thinks it's in starvation mode, anything it does get it will store away as much as possible.

Your eating habits will have to change radically to lose 2 stone in 2 months, which will also include exercise to kickstart everything. Personally I'd not be looking to lose more than a stone in that period - too drastic and unlikely to last.

You must eat breakfast, simple as that. Porridge with fruits/nuts/seeds would be a great start, as would wholemeal toast with an egg or two.

Your lunch sounds fine, depends what's in the sandwich - very easy to underestimate the calorie value if it's not pre packed.

What sort of pop, diet or full sugar? Either way replace with 4 X 500ml of water, spread through the day.

What's for dinner? If you are going heavy on the rice/noodles/sauces then you will be way over that 1500 cals a day. Veg is where it's at - you would struggle to eat the equivelent veg that two slices of bread would cost in cal terms.

Your 'treats' - KFC, alcohol, Revels and sausage rolls - forget it - they are not worth the cost for what you get out of them. If you want to love half a stone in 2 months then carry on with these treats, but if 2 stone is the aim then kiss them goodbye.

Get your ass down the gym, aim to do at least 3 sessions a week, getting a light sweat on for 30 mins to an hour.

OK, cheers. I probably will look to cut out the KFC and McDs on the weekends.

Dinner is not too bad - it's normally boiled rice with veg and a protein. I do skip it sometimes.

Drinks - normally Lucozade Sport or Gatorade. Hate diet stuff.

Thanks for the tip on needing to eat brekkie. I may look at so,ething like a boiled egg.

Skipping meals = bad. How much rice? Asian portion or normal portion?

Lucozade Sport and Gatorade are pure sugar. Drink water.

I am still off the smoking, started eating the breakfast, doing regular kettle bell sessions and cutting out a lot of the junk snacks & drinks.

Eating veg where possible, trying to eat fish or chicken daily, swapped white bread for Granary. I have decided to give Green Tea a shot this week, it was not as bad as I was expecting? Can't say I'm noticing any difference other than not putting milk in it mind

Also consuming tons of water and daily fruit juice, oooh and I have found and fixed my bicycle!

                      Small portion - Chinese portions.

The bottles on Gatorade show very little calories?

With the summer coming round I recently started playing tennis again and repaired my bike's perished wheels. It's nice to get out in the sun doing some fun excersise.

However, doing excersise made me realise how rubish my flat shaped trainers are. I need to get a new pair of trainers that have good support but aren't stupidly expensive. Anyone know any good trainers I could get? I tend to buy tennis shoes from the Nike store like these, and they are normally quite comfortable.

I've just knackered my upper-left trapezius doing side lateral raises with 30lbs on each arm, I got up to the 5th rep on my second set before it felt like my muscle popped. >< I can hardly turn my head to the left now without feeling sharp pain. doh. I hope it's like most of my other short term injuries where it goes away after 2/3 days. I have to say that with all these supplements and shakes I'm on I feel I'm approaching Wolverine levels of recovery - cuts, bruises, sprains, etc, all seem to vanish 8x faster than usual.

My shoulders are looking pretty ace atm though, photos shortly.

Well after the back injury, 4 week recovery, then catching mumps (i have no idea how i caught this and can thoroughly recommend to any adult male not to get it), 3 week recovery, ive missed nearly 2 months of training in the good weather. My cardio fitness is completely ruined, i went from 4-5 miles jogging a night down to 2 miles, and that's a struggle at the mo.

Back to the drawing board and to start all over again, balls.

Had my first session in our gym today after work. Spent 10 mins on the cross trainer before my knee started to go weak for some reason so then went onto the treadmill.

Did 45 mins at about 6.5km/h walking pace on a reasonable incline.

Had a decent sweat by the time I got off.

Nice easy start. Aiming to go Mon, Wed and Fri each week for about an hour which is easily doable.

Only joking, just going through the can't be arsed phase. Every other day i'm/was doing8k/5miles in 30mins is what ive been doing on the cross trainer, then 30 mins rowing machine, the back to the CT until i give up ha ha.
Lost 4 inches off the belly, but gained 1 1/2 stone without doing weights etc and i'm 19 1/2 stone Rugby type body
