I am an avid runner and whilst I am not the quickest I do enjoy it immensely and it helps me to loose the podge I develop from eating too much chocolate.
Is anyone else running in this snow at the moment of is it just me?
Whilst it looks lovely it is even worse than running on sand, or I should say, more difficult. My normal 4.5 mile run of 40 minutes turned into a 30 minute 3 mile trundle this morning!

Still, it was very scenic. Once I shift this extra stone and a bit I will start nailing my times again.

I'm really tempted, but it's so slippery on the roads before I get to the off road stuff where it would be ok. I'm going to go mtb riding on sunday though - hope there's still some snow.

Diet and exercise, all going well. Had to help out with a family member today, after being up all night with the Cricket, I'm treating myself to a well earned drink tho

@ C-Dude, I'm about a year off 8 miles, easily. Good work man

Not on your own I did 10k on Thursday in Sutton Park in Brum, have to say it was very light due to the snow but also footing wasn't brilliant it was soft but you couldnt see tree roots or the odd speed bump, ended up running over a golf course as it was a decent bet the fairway was flat. Just hoping rain keeps up so I can get out this afternoon and get back on my bike, missed this week out after trying in -6 last sunday and suffering frozen fingers, feet and worse still gears and brakes

I was all set for mtb in the snow tomorrow but it's all gone There's no way I'm enduring heavy rain in 1°C. Even after my Race Face "The Kenny" Jacket turned up this morning. Looks like a decent windbreaker. It's a shell, so will be wearing some nike running kit underneath. I'm guessing the reviewing customer didn't have a decent wiking base layer or didn't notice the massive under arm zippable vents on this thing.

nice jkt. shame mtb is so much better than most road jkts. did 55m today it was freeeezing. hands were like ice and feet no better mostly due to wind though :-( still good to get out at last after the thaw :-)

I should have trusted the reviewer for that jacket! It was very warm when I eventually got out, even with the vents right open. Had to open the zip at the front after a bit. I'll wear much less underneath next time. Kept the wind off nicely on the downhills though.

Haha looks a decent one, I might get it myself when I'm back on the bike then.

Well just over two weeks after my ankle op, I'm starting to walk about without crutches now. I've stopped taking the painkillers and it's rarely sore anymore either. So in another few weeks I will try some very light cycling on the bike at the gym and maybe jump in the pool for some swimming too. And apparently I should be ready for running again in 4-6 weeks all going well.

I am sooooooo excited. The thought of being able to run and playing squash again in just a few months time after 2 years out is amazing.

I don't think I'd buy it again if given the chance. It's not breathable enough. I should have listened....

                      getting in early

no point waiting for new years resolutions to say i'm gonna get fitter they never work for me.

Instead I bought myself a turbo trainer for my bike and so ending my no winter excuses and entered the 2011 UK Ironman in Bolton, how hard can a 2.4m swim, followed by 112m on the bike before a nice marathon to finish be :-)

The more I think about it the less prepared I actually am, still thats sorted my 2011 goal and I've 6 months to prep for it so here goes.

I'm hoping to run my first marathon in April, and I know it's going to be hard, but can't even begin to imagine how hard it would be after swimming and cycling that many miles! Good luck!!

well done, the real hard bit is deciding to do it, telling people and then sending off the entry form. which one are you doing?
