Looks a nice lens. Very nice DOF on the 1.8. I'm contemplating more glass atm, most likely it's the 300mm f/4. I'd love the f/2.8 but it's £3000!

As for Leica's i'm avoiding them, as i don't want to collect them just yet!

Thanks for the comments guys. The bokeh from the lens is dreamy at times. Here is a shot of my niece that I took a couple of months ago.

The 1.8 hunts too much and the focus system is antiquated, though of course it takes superb photos.
You know the focus is in camera - I used to think this but the lense has nothing to do with the hunting, it is all in camera. The camera just tells the lense to focus one way or another.

It's noisier than a USM lense but isn't that slow. Buy it - I love mine! These are all from the 50mm on a 20d

I already have it.It's great but just noisy which is why I would go for the 1.4 if I was starting out again.

The cameras last forever though (I have recently picked up a battered M6 which is lovely).

I also have some old leica lenses. A summaron that is over 50 years old and still pretty impressive and a 35mm summicron which is just an incredible lens. I use them mostly with my digital RF Epson R-D1.

I really love using the camera despite all its draw backs (no zoom, no macro, no auto focus) etc.

Anyone wanting to try rangefinder photography could pick up a bessa very cheaply with a couple of voigtlander lenses...

totally different price but the sigma 30mm 1.4 is where my heart lies. normal 50mm ish equivilant, small and fast. mmmmmmmm

Found this site that helps list Camera resellers.

                  Might be useful!

Took this a while back and only just got round to processing it:

                    8sec exposure @ f22!

Nice one. I'd shoot my own car but it is a **** tip at the moment. I'm sure the dust would show up!

How'd you fix the camera in place?

                        Comment

Look at the big version and you'll see it wasn't very steady! Was just on the tripod in the back seats and footwells, very awkward!

                          Here's another that I took today, 5sec @ f22:

Will look much better if you see it large by clicking it, may be a tad dark for some peoples monitors though I guess. Can you guess how I did the flash of light?

Got someone to hold a torch?

                            Comment

Jesus, that shot looks rubbish on this monitor at work, I hope it looks better for other people. My screen at home is obviously spoiling me!

Nearly GT, as it was a long exposure I hid behind the tree and set off a flashgun after the timer went off. Was just mucking around really as the light was too bad for the birds I went to try and get

Leads me on to my next question though, who knows anything about the wireless flash remote jobbies that you can use to set off a flashgun in a different place from the camera? What are they called, cost etc? I've had a few times when I would have liked one so far so am thinking about it.

Slave flash? If you've got a Canon EX580/550 you can use another (and ex430) as a wireless slave. Canon do a remote off camera wireless device(Canon ST-E2 Wireless Transmitter), it retails for about £130

I'm fairly sure Nikon et al do much the same as well.

You could a few years ago get something called Flash Mate, however a search on google seems only to bring up flash memory devices/
