I just missed the fire service kicking the door in on the first shot. Still not too bad

Starting em on the booze young eh Gareth? Nice feel to the BW.

GT, did the local rag have a 'tog at the fire? You could have/could still send em in otherwise.

Thanks, like your family pics. Families not posing make much better pictures imo. Nice stuff on your blog - mines mostly bolx!

Anyway, Searching through my archive found this one of my Daughter.

1/3200! You were trying to freeze time then? Or reduce over exposure

                  Anyway, Nice shot.

                      DCharlie,

Some great shot there. I like number two. Where are you by the way? Also you can embed the pics in the post so they link back to flickr.

Talking about settings, do you DSLR guys use M or tend to stick to P, Av or Tv? (Canon). I want to try out full manual but I just don't know what to select so use the other modes instead but have a feeling that the camera doesn't always choose the optimal setup for a given situation. The best way is to jump in and experiment I suppose.

hey there, i'm located in Toritsu Daigaku - but work out of Ebisu.
                        Thanks for the feedback.

re: modes - i'm using AV mainly, but i'm trying to get myself used to M mode just for learning purposes - i'm still getting to grips with things to be honest.

                              Remember digital experimentation is free!

I currently use Av for most of my shoots. However if i want to full control i use manual. Usually manual for my long exposures as the auto modes can get it wrong.
