Yep, I wouldn't crop either. But then I'm a big fan of space in photos like these. The more I look at that photo the more I like it.

Another thumbs up for that photo GT, really nice. Reminds me a bit of the Guiness advert from a while back

I'm going to the States next year and would rather not take my D200 and have been thinking of alternatives. I think I shall probably get the FUJI FinePix S5700 as it seems to have some decent features, take good pics and I've found it online for just a little over £100! Read some good reviews too and it's also in Stuff's TopTen of cameras - anyone here got one or tried one?

Whay wouldn't you take your D200 Dan? Too much to lug around?

Yeah that and we are on a tour with people I've not met before. I dunno, maybe I should take it - but I think it may be to bulky. I would need a big enough carry-on small backpack (if you know what I mean) in order to fit the D200 inside too....I really am at a loss as to what to do guys, can you help me out please?

Spend that 100 quid on a decent camera bag, you'll regret not taking the DSLR and lenses when you're there I guarantee it!

Oh I have a decent Lowepro bag for it. I suppose it'll be insured won't it through Travel Insurance - I had better check that out...ah stuff it - I'll take it

I think you would regret not taking it. NY is an ideal city for photography of all sorts, from street to architecture and so much every day detail to be captured. Also the D200 is pretty hardy to say the least (weather proofed and metal frame) so will take some knocks and you don't have to worry about it too much.

I never protect my camera. I have no case and either bung it in my rucsac or have it dangling over my shoulder. Its a tool to be used and I have insurance. Take it and enjoy it, thats my view.

Where are you going? Gareth says NYC but I don't see you mention that

Insurance, no, travel most likely wont cover it. Single item limits are often low like ?200/?250. Check your household insurance for single item limits and cover abroad. If not it's specialist time! My household contents cover my gear in the UK at least need to check abroad, should have though of that before going away in September!!

I never regretted taking my Fuji Medium Format to New York. Was looking at the prints the other day.

Take the best you can. Your home insurance may cover it.

Unfortunately I am banned from America at the moment. Hope to sort it out soon and If I do NY will be my first port of call. Guess thats why I converted America to NYC.

Literally banned? What you do? Gun crime?

Don't you get refused admission if you have a criminal record? Who's been a naughty boy?

America is SO freakin anal about its regulations and stuff. Even entering into teh country you have to go through like so many checks, dont get me started on the airports.
