It's a line from Anchorman, a Will Ferrell film - see a clip here silly stuff!

Cheers dude, it should be a great experience as well as one great big photo op!

Cracking photos all, Al I love your industrial shots!

Nice to get out of the office at lunch, especially with a camera in hand! Taken on G9.

What part of the country are you in Pete?

Shot was taken in Sidmouth (Devon), where I work.

I remember it well, nice place to work I guess (you may get sick of the sea side, but as a city dweller I dont!).

Nice shot, lots of nice stuff recently. I like the old derelict factory shots Alastair.

Nice big sky MonkeySteve, impressive dome as well Minky.

Me? I've mostly been shooting buildings the last few weeks.

Documenting stuff, before it gets knocked down. The 1970s did produce some brutalist style buildings, but impressive in their own way. The library was famously condemned by Prince Charles which for me is reason enough to keep it!

All very nice GT, especially like the 1st and 2nd.

Interesting shot Pete, must be good to be able to get ouit to places like that on your lunch break!

Looks like that G9 is working well Pete.

MonkeySteve - that second shot has some great colours.

Alastair - some nice pics there - I looked at going to the Sleaford Bass Maltings today, until I found out that it was closed to the public :/

Miserable day, I did shoot some stuff, but ended up going back to some old pics with some work on lighting and colours ...

Some very nice pics there guys.

Alastair, I absolutely love those pics. Really lovely textures and colours. I hope you do some more urbexing!

Pete, that looks very nice. The G9 seems like a really nice choice for the size. I wish I worked near where you do!

GT, those are interesting. The skies, in particularly the first photo, look great. The library makes a bit of a surreal image, especially with that church-like sculpture in front of it.

Really nice shadows Marty! Moody, colourful, and with a really nice depth to it. The more I look at it, the more I like it.

Has anyone played with Photoshop Express yet? I signed up today (managed to bag my first name - w00t!) and threw up a set of photos to play with. It's quite fun! The Pop Colour tool is a neat shortcut. I've a feeling we'll see lots of photos from that up on Flickr in the near future. Anyway, feel free to have a look at the photos from my workshop "job" a couple of weeks ago. I'll stick them up on Flickr sometime, but they're just on PSExpress for now.

Has anyone heard the whole hullabaloo over the Aperture plug-in API? I must admit, Aperture rubs me up the wrong way, but having some pixel editing capabilities in Lightroom would be very nice indeed. Rob Gailbraith has a good overview.

However, what I found far more interesting was one of the featured plugins, Nik Software's Viveza. It's a really powerful selection tool that allows you to adjust the colours and brightness for a selected object over a certain area. Look at the videos on the software page (they're under Lessons) for a good idea of how easy this is. Yow! Me want.

Yeah the Aperture API looks good. I use it and the update came down via Software Update yesterday. Version 2 (and now 2.1) is an enormous improvement on 1.5. Much faster and most of the tools I used to drop out to PhotoShop for are now included or improved such that I don't need to.

Best things though are the speed (really it blazes along now) and the improved image quality - I went back and reoutput some of my old photos as the quality was so visibily improved. Particularly on grainy shots.

Picked up the Canon 400D today, quick question (the first of many I expect) - where is the best place to get cheap memory cards from?

Al - awesome abandoned building shots. Part of me wants to try and find something similar but I just know that I will see awesome things that I won't be able to do justice, perhaps in time!

GT - love the first one especially, great contrast on the flowers and sky.

Liking winky's dome, MonkeySteve's puddle, and Pete's enviable surroundings too!

Been trying out the 50mm 1.8 some more, still not 100% happy with manual focus, but keeping at it. Starting to get quite into taking portraits with it. Was at an 80s themed party last night, which meant lots of bright lighting and people looking like they got dressed in the dark. Set here.

(anyone guess who he's meant to be?)

Turns out the mate whose band I saw a couple of weeks back is playing again tomorrow, so will try and improve on the results I got from last time.

Not sure what sort of memory cards the 400D uses but the cheapest place I found for SDHC cards was play.com - anywhere else they're about 30-40 quid but at Play the Sandisk ones are ?12.49 each. Bargain .

7dayshop is great for CF and other memory. Pretty good site for Canon stuff period.

Wow - they're even cheaper than play.com for SDHC cards. Good call.
