Got a new toy today: a Tokina 11-16 F2.8 AT-X. Not had a chance to try it yet other than pointing it at my feet but can't wait to give it a whirl
Next lens for me will be a F1.4 prime - toying between 50mm and 85mm.

Ish, what will that lens let you do? Also what are the funny flower shaped things I've seen on the end of peoples lenses?Last edited by spagmasterswift; 30-04-2008, 16:03.

In terms of what it will let me do. Well it's a wide angle lens - which kind of does what it says on the tin. You get an interesting "perspective" from them due to the curved nature of the lens which can be quite pronounced when you have a lot of depth in your shot and objects near and far. You find that a lot of good landscape shots are taken with a wide angle lens.
I'll post some examples as soon as I have some worth posting

Hey Spags I like that picture, nice composition with the worker in it, just a little dark in the bottom but difficult to balance the sky and the foreground without blowing out something.
New toy is on the way, not sure if I will get it before the weekend though for my trip up north. Gonna have a lot more reach though 100-400 zoom
Took a few snaps of my partner, practicing with flash and at potraits generally. Not very confident at it, its very hard

Thats good Winky - I like the composition and you've got the depth of field spot on.
Went out with my new lens this evening. I've not done a lot of night shooting and I've never used a wide angle lens before so it was very interesting.
This is the best of what I took I think. Didn't quite get the focus right - lesson learned from this evening: you need focus on the entry of the leading line.
I love the lens though.
Spagmaster - you asked what one of these lenses did. Well the part of the bridge that enters the photo on the right hand side was almost 90 degrees to the right of the camera.

Nice shot Winky. Ish, that looks like a killer lens, good choice, good shot.
Yesterday I regressed 20 years and went to the zoo for my birthday like a nine year old, not many nine year olds go armed with a 70-200 f4L thoughHere are some of the results.
This guy was just sitting scratching his balls like most monkeys do but when he spotted the camera he went a bit agro!
Bit of a clich? zoo shot this one.
And my God were these guys cute.
