    Abstract!

    Comment

GT - I really like your last shot but it seems to have lost something in the re-sizing maybe? A little soft?

      Marty, they're very well taken.

Charles, some good shots there, looks like you were in Greece or something rather than West Sussex

Pete - good to see you back, I like them, is it a sparkler?

Here's another view of the cement works and another BW conversion.

Like your abstracts PeteJ - and nice to see you back in the thread.

Alastair - can't you hop over the fence or something - I reckon that sites got real potential if only you could get close to it. Carry a clipboard and sport a moustache and you'll probably just get passed off as some sort of official.

The fence is 8 foot high Ish. I just need to grow some balls and walk in during the day, there is an open entrance but the scummy travellers living on site scare me.

I have a beard at the mo, that may see me through as an engineer!

Whats the worst that could happen... actually best not go there. But they do say you have to suffer for your art

Can you actually get inside the buildings? If so, count me in for the adventure!

Yes you can, I went back today and here's what I found out. The site is still being used as a quarry so there is a lot of lorry traffic in and out. But the big buildings are not in use.

If you look here and scroll around a bit you'll see the size of the site. It's immense.

One lorry driver said to me to go and have a nose about if I was safe so I did but he'd obviously radioed 'base' to say I was there as I only lasted 5 mins before a geezer in a massive digger pulled up and told me to clear off. He wasn't even up for a chat

Managed 4 shots, all pretty poor but this is the best at showing what the little bit I was in was like. There was open doors through to the next building so getting around wouldn't be a problem. It's just getting in without being seen as there are a lot of vehicles in and out and the only area not fenced off s the one road in so you'd have to use it.

Oh, I certainly like that one Alastair if it is intended to keep with your abandoned / rundown theme.

Thanks ET - yes it is.

One thing remember about abandoned buildings is pigeon ****, in dust form (less likely in this weather) it can be lethal if inhaled.

                      Nice shots though!.

As for my shop shot, think it has lost a bit on the resize. Will have a go at it again, probably with a different crop.

Yay, I finally went Pro on flickr today as resizing my landscape photos got on my nerves when they are always best viewed on large or their original size.

I went to the Orwell Meadows last night (near the Orwell Bridge) to walk along the river, which was very nice and of course I managed to capture some rather nice photos of my favourite theme; sunsets.

I took about 90-100 but managed to cut them down to about 10, which was a bit difficult but I'm happy with my selection. You can view most of them on my flickr page however I feel like showing a couple for you nice folks.

ET - you are definetly improving!

Middle one is great, top one I think the sun could have done with being a little lower, bottom one I think is a great moment but I'd play with the crop. I'll have a go on flickr with the note thingie a little later and check out your others too.

                          Nice work

Unheard of. As I'm going to WOMAD and taking my camera I was going to extend my home insurance policy to cover it. Rang them up... its already covered up to £1900 of it.

                            Didn't expect that!

You guys always astound me with the quality of these snaps. I see all the options on my digital camera and go cold. That's probably why most of my snaps, like the ones I took in Berlin Zoo at New Year, have a dreadful motion blur on them and look out of focus. Shame cos when I get it right the camera takes a nice picture,

You've been watching too many episodes of House MD It's low risk, mostly affecting people with compromised immune systems, I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you like sniffing lines of the stuff like coke.

Some nice pics, and yup, ET's photos are showing definite improvement. The middle shot is great. I might have been tempted to crop out some of the dark space on the top pic, but it's not hugely off-putting.

I think this is probably the last of my Durham photos I'm going to upload - there are more on my flickr and picasa pages, so go there to see them.
