Cheers Alastair - always worry when giving what I hope is constructive criticism in a forum that it will be misconstrued. Look forward to seeing the next lot!

I've only got one friend with a decent car (well mine's alright I guess but nothing rare - Mini Cooper S). In fact he's got three of the buggers. Aston Martin DB9, Audi R4, BMW M3. Driven all three and the DB9 is just awesome.

Your shots are inspiring me to invoke the power of the car nerd and head off somewhere for a day with them.

Alistair I loved the ac cobra shots you did in the car thread but Im not feeling the A3 shots I cant put my finger on why, I quite like the first shot but the second the angle seems wrong to me

I stand by what I said about the second shot still - I do like it. Mainly because of the car's shiny contrast to the background. But that's just me

It's an S4 not an A3!! Fair enough, I don't like them as much either.

          Try this angle though:

And I hadn't realised I haven't posted this Cobra shot yet, I love this one!

Glad you've picked up on the lighting. I'm really trying hard to go for pro looking lighting setups now and that was a 3 flash affair that took quite a lot of effort to get right.

Just wondering if any of you photo heads could reccomend some gear? Im about to head off travelling around Oz for a year and need two things:

One) A backpack for my laptop and camera (Nikon D100) with various bits - was looking at a Tamrac Expedition 7X and the Lowepro Computrekker but any opinions would be awesome

Two) A reasonably priced but sturdy tripod, was looking at Manfrotto but no real idea on tripods, mine was given to me and is ancient!

I've got the Lowepro minitrekker which is basically the same as the computrekker but without the bit for the laptop next to your back. It's a very good bag that I'm very happy with. Looked briefly at the Tamracs in shops and they also look good. I'd go for the looks that you like best as there isn't much to choose between them I'd say.

A few from today - my first ever attempt at a sunrise..

There's a bit more detail in the statue shots if they're viewed large.
