Yup, the crop factor is a bummer, although excellent for wildlife/sports/pervert photographers.

The absolute best thing about digital is learning and experimentation. I ended up hating my film SLR in 2004 because I was too stupid to use it properly. I then sold it and bought a Canon G5 and learnt by trial and error.

Yeah, I've seen an Epson R-D1, based on the same design as the R2a it is. However, it is much to expensive for a bloke like me.

PS Remember you can go 'back to film' for pounds - those 50mm primes from Pentax, Olympus or just about anyone else who made them are excellent. I've got a few knackered SLRs which I take drinking because I don't care if they get lost or not, costing ?10-15 each. Slap in some Delta 3200 and there's no need for flash either.

Aye, i've kept my film SLR and Medium Format cameras as i will go back to them. Never tried Delta 3200 though, looks like one to try.

Not much of a camera man myself (I struggle with most technology), but I'm gonna pimp a photo the missus took last year at a gig. I was really impressed by it 'cause it was taken using one of those disposable camera's.

I visited my local BBC Spring Watch this morning (along with ten thousand other people >_< ) - they are running a competition for finding the best 'Spring' inspired photo of the day to win a trip to the BBC (wooo, etc). I didn't get anything particularly spring-like, but I quite like this.

It was kept behind a cage and looked really unhappy the whole time. Poor thing had ****-loads of people watching it the whole time! I thought this shot captured its mood quite well.

Edit - added one with a more plesent expression! Maybe it wasn't so bad

Also added the best of the 'bee' series.

Check out Exposure. Its an excellent Photoshop plugin that, amongst other things, will put the grain back for you! Very impressive piece of software.

Yeah, it's proving to be quite a nice lens The learning curve for a prime macro lens is a lot tougher than I was expecting, but I'm slowly getting my head around it.

The Ring-Tailed Lemur was taken using the same lens - the lemur was behind two caged surfaces, surprised it managed to lose the grating so well.

                          Nice. Very nice!

Definetly going to have to get myself one of those badboys. But some Nikon equivelant.

Still kudos to you Mr. PeteJ - its not the lens its what you do with it what counts. Apparently

And I really do love that flower shot. The contrast between the yellow and red is just stunning.

Thanks, I have to confess to not liking it when I first took the shot but looking back today it stood out nicely

The Nikon equiv is this for your information

I went for a lengthy cycle and photoshoot today practicing landscapes. As I suspected I need practice!! I find it hard finding things of interest in a "normal" landscape.

Did take this not bad picture of a dragonfly though. I was taking a picture of a weir and it landed on a plant next to me.

I've got some backpay coming at the end of the month. I may well invest it in one of those lenses. The detail on the lemur is superb!

What sort of kit do you guys all use? Any of you with point and shoots, or do you all have "proper" SLR/Digital SLR cameras with fancy lenses?

Ish, love the dragonfly photo mate, very nice
