Nope, still got the G9 Boris and still not using photo-shop either. If I adjust anything it's just contrast and brightness in the basic software that came with the phone ^ ^

Nope, it was. I got it back last week from repair but have just noticed that there's a dark smudge on the screen when taking movies and on a couple of my photos as well. So it may have to go back to Canon, which kinda sucks just before I go on holiday

Edit: you can see the smudge on this out of focus photo here right in the middle on the white boards, does anyone know what that might be as there's nothing noticeable on the lens that i can see?

Could be a hair on the mirrors inside the camera?

some more from the Botanical Gardens,

i've attached two of the same photo. I really struggle with landscapes/outdoor photography. Everything i shoot looks flat, I'm not sure why.....Any tips on these, which one looks better?

Herbalizer, The second of those two stiched photos looks better in my opinion. More vivid with colour which is good for landscapes what with all the plants and stuff (especially in Autumn )

I'm not amazing at landscapes by any means, but they are my most favourite types of photography. As a tip, try to get something in the foreground, which will then give your photo more depth, and get rid of the 'flat' look you mentioned. Once you've found that backdrop you like, start looking for that all important object in front.

Also, if there's a road, path, fence etc, try and position yourself so that they go into the distance (not always possible I know), again it will add depth due to the perspective with the road or whatever getting smaller just like a vanishing point in a drawing; it draws the eye into the photo that way.

Anyway, I like your first one and the last one is really nice too. It has a calmness to it.

Tommy - Good stuff there. That's very good for a first attempt at panning, and also like the close up shot.

Spags - lovely sky there, and a great clear shot of the Dome (or whatever it's called these days !)

Herbalizer - I prefer the second version I think. When you're shooting landscapes, what aperture are you using ? Also, might be worth trying to add something in the foreground to create some depth ? I think one of this month's camera mags has a feature on landscapes. EDIT - Snap with Malc !!

One from yesterday - these passed right over us, and we didn't get any rain !

Nice sky Garf, the Black and White suits the moody threatening clouds perfectly.

Herbalizer - I popped into Smiths on the way to work, and while I don't think this was the one I had in mind, DSLR User magazine has an issue dedicated to landscapes this month - maybe worth a look ?

I don't normally read this one, so no idea how good it is.

Is there any way to find out my yahoo ID on my Flickr! page? The problem is i've forgotten what the email address was with Yahoo and now I can't log in to upload my photos. I did the password recovery thing on the site but it's not working for some reason. So i'm wondering if there's any part on my site where it says email Sir Malc or whatever, and it comes up with my yahoo email address?

I think this might be the one I was thinking of actually..

Malc - Sorry, not sure on that one, but you could try sending flickr a support query here..

I have that exact magazine. It's very good and covers all the essential skills/equipment required for landscape photography. I recommend it, but it is £8 which is a lot for a magazine, so you may find books for the same price which would cover more information. But it is good though.

No need for me to worry anymore, i tried for about 15 mins and eventually got the right ID. I can upload my Goodwood photos now.

Spags - that shot of the o2 is a cracker!

Tommy - amazing racing shots dude

Herbalizer - I like the gate shot and the second of your 2 identical photos, it seems warmer. Have you tried adjusting the white balance when outside in the sun? Maybe switch to the little shiny sun icon instead of AUTO, which is probably what it is on.

Garf - that b+w shot is stunning! Wow, well done

Nice band shots as usual Funkydan, how did the guy get that much air in the first picture? I really like the sunset picture as well.

Here's a few photos of the Red Arrows display at Goodwood Festival of Speed from the Sunday just gone (if anyone can offer me some tips on basic editing like adding a bit more contrast or something to these photos, as some are a little bright due to the sun being right next to dark rain clouds in these shots):
