Finally got round to opening up the box. Not had much of a play with it yet though but - here it is:

What online photo sites do people recommend? I'm toying with paying for one so that I can host decent sized images and not sure which to go for - Photobucket and Flickr seem to be the main ones, anyone have any thoughts on why I should or shouldn't go for one over the other?

      Ta.

I use Flickr - although I did pay for the Pro version.

It's a thing of beauty isn't it? Best thing about it is the ability to control external Canon Speedlite's wirelessly.

Please tell me it's crap. I keep getting drawn towards it as a upgrade.

Flickr seems to be the way to go in terms of features (A lot of the pics I upload will be personal pictures that I want to restrict access to). My only concern with Flickr is that the accounts get absorbed into the Live account structure, which I utterly detest. >_<

Haven't posted in here for ages - great photos all round as usual

Mr Ono - that 7D looks lovely indeed, even to a Nikon user !

I've been saving some cash for the last few months, but can't decide whether to spend it now on an ultrawide angle lens, or wait a bit longer and upgrade the camera body to a Nikon D90 instead - tough decision...

May be a silly question, but what is the Live account structure ?

Good question, and one that I'm going to struggle to answer effectively!

I'm not a fan of accounts linking in all over the place to be honest, particularly not when they were previously a more autonomous entity. I like having hundreds of separate accounts for everything.

My Flickr account is only linked to a crappy Yahoo account they need and nothing else.

Lets me have my primary email of my choice so as long as remember my login details I can forget about the Yahoo account (which I have).

I haven't posted for yonks! Not been taking any photos mind I was in Munich for the past few days but didn't do a very good job.

Welcome back Marty!! Make sure you don't leave us again this time

Hmm ok, I was bored so randomly decided to try and Force Choke myself. Didn't work out as I had it in my head but hey ho, at least I know how to merge two photos together now.

You ever seen 'Kids in the Hall'? This is a bit 'I'm crushing your head' as well as force choke! Cool shot though mate

I've spent all day processing the rest of my Budapest shots

                            Communist Statue Wrapped in film....

                            Judge Bear

                            Macro Lizard

I've been dabbling with HDR a bit more but a few times I've had my exposure bracketing on and I've got one lovely shot anyway and the HDR has been rendered fairly pointless.

                            HDR and the Normal Photo

And the same kinda thing again, although you do get a lovely crisp noise free image after combining exposures, which you can see on the larger versions.

This one I kinda cheated a little in Photoshop, the sky wasn't as pretty as it was when I took the photo so I shopped in a sky from a photo that was a few minutes later nearby.

                            Another exposure blending

and a shot with the ND filter on

Big fan of sunset photos, love how simple yet effective your shot is, PeteJ.

Is anybody thinking of attending Focus On Imaging this year at the NEC? £8 for public access for all 4 days if you pre-register.
