It's not the camera but the person behind it that composes the image so all are welcome.

Looks as if you've captured a nice moody sky, I hope it didn't rain on you?

It didn't rain luckily. My first sunset was kind.

Strong winds though, very chilly up there.

This may be of interest to some of you:

It's free image editing software which works in your browser. Just had a bit of a play with it and was quite impressed.

          Couple more

I loved the heron's - they're so measured in their movements its almost robotic.

Thanks Ish, I've always liked sunsets. You're photo is very good, I like the way you've framed it with the cliff area to the left with the seagulls flying around. It's a more interesting photo with more things in it rather than just a sky.

And tortoises (not Lonesome George, though I did see Lonesome George)

Ish, these are absolutely lovely. Stick them up on Alamy, tag them with their Latin names as well as their English names, make sure to mention that they were shot on the Galapagos Islands, and watch the millions roll in!

                      Thanks Magnakai.

Another one before I head out to cut the grass!

Quite like this one, the way the Sealions are posing

Also took a couple of non-wildlife shots on holiday such as this:

Rossco - I'd agree with Malc's recommendations - the G9 (or the new G10) is meant to be very good for a compact, as is the Panasonic LX3.

In terms of DSLR, again, I'd agree with the D40. I have one, and it's a great introduction into the world of DSLR. Most of the stuff I have posted in here is taken with it. The D40 can be had for about ?245 on Amazon.

That said, you can't go wrong with any of the current 'starter' DSLR's from the big players (Nikon/Canon/Sony/Olympus/Pentax) None of them make a bad camera, so it comes down to budget, and just as importantly, how it feels in your hands.

Malc - Nice sunsets - I particularly like red hints to the clouds in the 3rd one.

Ish - What a fantastic set of photos. Looks like an amazing place, and you've come away with some really good shots there. Good work.

Couple of random shots from work on Friday:

Ish, most of the photos you took at Galapagos look like they are taken straight out of a BBC or National Geographic nature documentary for heavens sake.

Garf, I love all three of your photos purely because each one is different to the next.

                              Thanks guys, nice portrait Magnakai.

Couple more from me. I'm about half way through the ones I took while out there.

I'm really enjoying these Ish. They're so bright! The colour of the light is totally different from the UK, much more bluey/white. Lovely.

I shot the Blue Peter presenters at my local cinema today. They were shooting a segment, and so I got roped into taking a few stills. They might also appear in the local community paper, whoop whoop, but for no money as they're a totally voluntary rag.
