Hey guys im new to all this photography stuff but I just got a Nikon D3000 and have been reading up trying to get my head round everything. If anyone has any useful advice for a newcomer that would be great.
I'm still just getting used to the camera really but I've got some ideas for places I want to go take some shots this week. Nice thing about living in York is that there is plenty to see.

Said it before HaHa but everytime you post any shots I just think they are fab!
I've been researching HDR alot the last week or so for a uni project where I'm using HDRI maps to light a 3D environment but really should be using a fisheye lens for it. Can you get fisheye filters or something for cheap though instead so I don't need to shell out huge amounts for a new lens.
EDIT:
Just seen that new Photoshop content aware feature. Oh my god that is gonna be awesome. It's like magic or witchcraft or something! Don't know how it does it.Last edited by Rossco; 14-04-2010, 14:37.

Nice ones Garf. Like the Dozer one but as I'm in an HDR frame of mind now, it would have been good to HDR that shot and see all the details inside the shack!
I'm in the market for a new lens for my Sony A200. Gonna get one for my birthday but couldn't decide whether to go macro or telephoto. I was looking at lenses and came across these which I believe are telephoto lenses even though the Sigma states macro in the title. To me they seem the same lens just from different manufacturers. Would the Sony one be worth the extra £80 or should I just go for the Sigma?

A real squirrel! I'm still trying to crack the white balance on this camera (Canon 350D), I change settings and nothing seems to change on the photos. Whites are over-exposing and bleeding everywhere. The photo above was taken on rainy, cloudy day. You wouldn't think so.Last edited by dataDave; 22-04-2010, 09:03.

Yeah, I'll try to explain my unserstanding of it.
If you shoot a picture that has extremes of light and dark your camera cannot correctly expose for all of these conditions....in a single shot.
Using auto bracketing to shoot a range of exposures these shots can then be combined into a single shot with a good range of correctly exposed light and shadow detail.
This will obviously only work for pretty much static images.
