Gareth, I wasn't flirting but being sarcastic. Imagine if Dan actually said that to anyone under 35!!

I bet he does though, eh?

Anyway, some great shots recently, yet again!

Alastair, have to admit I agree with what you said about the dancing girl in your previous photos.

Glad you like that photo - think that's one of the best of that band.

And I am ignoring your other comment as I think you are being immature and I shall have nothing to do with such nonsense

Enough of this homoerotic bull****, lets get back to being real men!

I needed a break from Hip-Hop and took the camera out on Monday with no intention of going anywhere near a HH event. As I was mooching near work it really struck me that there was a massive area totally devoid of any natural influence whatsoever. That got me looking a little closer at the detail humans have left behind on the area. Maybe an obvious choice but:

The only 'nature' I could find in the immediate area was a little moss growing in the dirt in the cracks between some cobbles:

              It made me sad really.

Damn, that wasn't very manly after all [puffs chest out]

Nice, like them both. I have a load of shots in a similar vein. Will Flickr them at some point and maybe we can get a theme going on at our NTSC area.

Another from the kestrel shots. Eyeing up a possible snack? Nah, too small.

                    Excellent shot.

Right, you are rolling out too many good images at too high a rate.

                    Must get out there...

Hey thanks, I've still got hundreds to work through for the festival too!

                          Alastair, that's excellent.
You should definitely consider that for a wildlife photo competition of some sort. The expression on that kestrel's face is priceless, and I can't believe you managed to get the fly in there too.

                          -----

On another note, has anyone got a swiss army knife of Photoshop plugins, or do you just use the inbuilt tools?

When I have a computer that I can put Photoshop on and treat as my own, I'll definitely install Noise Ninja. The difference that software can make is immense. And for $30 too? Crazy.

I've also just yesterday played with the excellent Digital Film Tools 55mm plugin package. It's a suite of finely honed filters that let you do some rather pinpoint image correction. The colouor corrections ones aren't gimmicky, they're just sharply targeted tools for image adjustment. There are some more fun ones, such as bleach bypass, cross-processing etc, and to be fair, I was quite impressed by these as well.

                          Definitely worth checking out.

I don't see a lot of candid photos posted up here, though some of Alastair's hip hop ones have been capturing that sort of vibe.

In my opinion, a good candid shot is to die for, but being a geek I don't get out much.

However, I've been really enjoying some of Tod Seelie's shots, especially the ones posted on his Everyday I Live site. This one, for instance, is great. Warning, a lot of those shots are NSFW.
Unfortunately, I don't get to many naked hipster parties these days, so for pure drama and boobijies I can't hope to compete.

                            Still, any thoughts?

Depends what you mean by candid.

Some nice stuff in his main site but all this party shooting, and getting girl to get their jubblies out seems to be all the rage. The king of the genre seems to be last nights party. How does he get so many of them to decide to take all their clothes off for him?

Anyway, i'm heading in to town on Sunday for a day of street photography with the new M8, should be fun and hope to get to grips with the camera.

Got another new lens today, or rather a new old lens. An f2.8 28mm Nikon Series E jobbie, £25 from eBay. Only taken a couple of quick pics in the back garden with it, but the results are very pleasing. There's no metering or auto focus, so it all has to be done with the judgement of my eye

Click through for larger version. If focuses surprisingly closely actually, down to about 10-12 inches. Nice.
